Abstract: A pharmaceutical composition containing 2,4,5,7-tetrahydroxy-5,6-diprenyl flavanone compound extracted from root of Cudrania tricuspidata is provided to inhibit propagation of tumor cells due to kinase 2(CKII) inhibition effect, thereby being used as a pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating cancer diseases. The pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating cancer diseases comprises 2,4,5,7-tetrahydroxy-5,6-diprenyl flavanone compound having tumor cell propagation inhibiting activity and represented by the formula(1) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof as an effective ingredient.

Abstract: A cudraflavanone A isolated from Cudrania tricuspidata CARR. is provided to show topoisomerase I inhibiting activity and be able to induce apoptosis of tumor cell, thereby being used for medicines and health functional foods for preventing and treating cancer. The pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating cancer comprises cudraflavanone A showing topoisomerase 1 inhibiting activity and inducing apoptosis of tumor cell, and a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. The cudraflavanone A is represented by the formula(1) and isolated from Cudrania tricuspidata CARR.
