Abstract: A method of forming a silver ion coating layer is provided to apply silver ions to an orthodontic device or to the surface of an implant, and to prevent the pathogenic oral microflora attachment that causes tooth-decay. A silver ion coating layer is formed by polymerization. To this end, a target part(35) fixed to a stabilizer is injected between both electrodes(31) inside a vacuum chamber(30), and a vacuum pump(20) is operated to make the chamber vacuum. The pressure in the chamber is measured by a pressure gauge(40). Under the vacuum condition, Ar or inert gas(60) is injected to clean the surface of a substrate. Acrylic acid gas(65) is introduced into the chamber as a monomer gas, and discharged with a generator(50). The discharge takes place in two steps, 80W for 4-6min and 30-40W for 15-25min. A resulting acrylic acid polymerization coating layer with a carboxylic group is immersed in a silver ion-containing solution for about 30minutes to substitute hydrogen ions with silver ions.
