본 발명에 따른 송신 장치는 방송 서비스를 위한 송신 장치로서, 기본 계층 기초 스트림 및 향상 계층 기초 스트림을 수신하여 각각의 동기 계층(sync layer, SL) 패킷을 생성하는 SL 패킷화기, 상기 SL 패킷 각각을 패킷 단위 기초 스트림 (packetized elementary stream, PES) 패킷으로 변환하는 PES 패킷화기, 상기 PES 패킷을 다중화하여 기본 계층 전송 스트림(transport stream)을 출력하는 제1 TS 다중화부, 그리고 상기 PES 패킷을 다중화하여 향상 계층 전송 스트림을 출력하는 제2 TS 다중화부를 포함하고, 상기 제2 TS 다중화부는 상기 향상 계층 전송 스트림이 상기 기본 계층 전송 스트림에 의존하는 지 여부에 대한 정보를 포함하는 서술자를 상기 향상 계층 전송 스트림에 삽입한다.

방송 신호 전송 방법에서, 전송 프레임은 기존의 지상파 DMB 신호의 구조와 동일한 구조를 가지며, 기본 계층 서비스 스트림을 포함하는 전송 프레임은 기본 계층으로 변조되고, 강화 계층 서비스 스트림을 포함하는 전송 프레임은 강화 계층으로 변조된다. 이때, 강화 계층 서비스 스트림은 강화 계층 서비스를 제공하기 위하여 기본 계층 서비스 스트림에 포함되지 않은 부가적인 데이터로 구성된다. 이와 같이 하면, 기존의 지상파 DMB와 호환가능하면서도, 고전송 효율을 요구하는 고품질의 서비스를 제공할 수 있다. 이때, 고전송 효율은 기존의 지상파 DMB보다 높은 데이터 전송률을 의미한다. 지상파 DMB, 방송, 계층적 변조 방식, 고품질 서비스, 비디오 서비스

디지털 멀티미디어 방송 시스템의 다중화 장치는 복수의 엔코더, 비트율 제어기, 채널 분배부 및 프레임 생성부를 포함한다. 복수의 엔코더는 복수의 서비스를 복수의 비트율로 각각 부호화하여 복수의 부호화된 서비스를 생성한다. 비트율 제어기는 복수의 부호화된 서비스의 전체 용량과 전송 프레임의 전송 용량을 비교하여 복수의 비트율 각각을 결정한다. 채널 분배부는 복수의 부호화된 서비스 각각에 적어도 하나의 고유한 서브채널을 할당하고, 복수의 부호화된 서비스에 적어도 하나의 공유채널을 할당한다. 그리고 프레임 생성부는 복수의 서브채널과 적어도 하나의 공유 채널을 포함하는 전송 프레임을 생성한다. An apparatus and a method for equalizing the reception channel in an OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) transmission system and a DMB(Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) receiving apparatus applying the same are provided to improve the performance of mobile reception in a transmission system in which pilot signal is not used. A channel estimator(520) estimates channel as a symbol unit with the reference signal received from the standard signal creation part(550). A channel filtering part(530) removes the noises of the presumed channel value. A channel equalization part(540) equalizes the channel by using the estimation channel value. The channel estimator estimates the PRS(Phase Reference Symbol) of the received frame by the reference signal.

A method for multiplexing frame of digital broadcasting signal, apparatus thereof, and transmission apparatus are provided to fit transmission synchronization of a plurality of transmission frames including a service stream about an identical service without a separate field. An apparatus for multiplexing frame of digital broadcasting signal comprises a first buffer(611), a second buffer(612), a time comparison processing unit(630), a first frame generator(651), a second frame generator(652), and a time stamp generator(660). The first buffer stores a first service stream received from outside. The second buffer stores a second service stream received from outside. The time comparison processing unit compares a first service time data about the first service stream with a second service time data about the second service stream. The first frame generator outputs a first frame including the first service stream outputted in the first buffer. The second frame generator outputs a second frame including the second service stream outputted in the second buffer. The time stamp generator generates a first transmission time data comprised in a time stamp field of the first frame and a second transmission time data comprised in a time stamp field of the second frame.

An apparatus and a method of servicing digital multimedia broadcasting are provided to transmit the multimedia data and additional data of high quality and high transmitting efficiency. An apparatus of servicing digital multimedia broadcasting includes a base layer transmitting processor(307), an enhancement layer transmitting processor(305), and a layer transmitting unit. The base layer transmitting processor encodes the base layer stream. The enhancement layer transmitting processor encodes the enhancement layer stream. The layer transmitting unit encodes the base layer stream which is output from the base layer transmitting processor and the enhancement layer stream which is output from the enhancement layer transmitting processor and allots a predetermined bit value so as to proceed a layer symbol mapping to transmit it.

PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for estimating and equalizing a channel are provided to improve data receiving performance by performing the channel estimation and equalization with the size information of a received signal from a digital multimedia broadcasting system. CONSTITUTION: A first extraction module extracts the size information from a received signal(S310). A channel estimation module estimates a transmission channel with the filtering of the extracted size information(S320). An equalization module equalizes the extracted size information based on the estimated channel(S330). A second extraction module extracts an enhancement layer signal based on in the equalization signal of the equalization module. The second extraction module transmits the enhancement layer signal to the frequency deinterleaver(S340).

PURPOSE: An apparatus for transmitting and receiving digital multimedia broadcasting and a method thereof are provided to change the modulation system of the enhancement layer stream according to the broadcasting environment. CONSTITUTION: The base layer processing unit(103) outputs the base layer stream. The enhancement layer processing unit(104) outputs the enhancement layer stream. The transmission unit(105) modulates the enhancement layer stream among the first and second layer modulation mode based on one layer modulation mode. The transmission unit is proceed the mapping of the symbol of the enhancement layer stream based on the symbol location of the base layer stream. The transmission unit is created the transfer frame. The different modulation system is used to the first and second layer modulation mode.

A signal transmission method and a signal receiving method in a broadcasting system are provided to mutually link services of two ensemble transfer frames, thereby offering a high-quality data service. An ensemble of a base layer and the ensemble of an enhancement layer are produced from data content of a broadcast signal. A base layer ensemble processor(130) comprises a base layer service component. The enhancement layer ensemble comprises an enhancement layer service component. Ensemble transfer frames of the basic layer and the enhancement layer are individually generated from the ensemble of the base layer and the ensemble of the enhancement layer. The ensemble transfer frames of the enhancement layer and the base layer are transmitted. The ensemble transfer frame of the enhancement layer comprises service control information.

An apparatus and a method for demodulation in a transmission system are provided to improve reception of an addition layer by using a pilot existing in an addition layer signal. A receiver(210) receives the signal in the form of a transfer frame and the signal comprises a phase reference symbol, a fast information channel and a main service channel. A pilot information storage unit(230) stores location information of a pilot included in the main service channel. A primary channel estimating unit(244) channel-estimates the phase reference symbol and outputs a primary channel estimated value. According to the channel estimated value of the phase reference symbol, the second channel estimating unit(245) channel-estimates the fast information channel and outputs the second channel estimated value. According to the channel estimated value on the basis of the location information of the pilot the fast information channel, a third channel estimating unit(246) channel-estimates the main service channel and outputs the third channel estimated value. According to the primary channel estimated value, the second channel estimated value and the third channel estimated value, a channel equalization part(247) channel-equalizes the signal and outputs a channel-equalized signal.
