Abstract: PURPOSE: A video streaming playback apparatus and method thereof are provided to support a playback mode which is composed of a trick mode and a random access mode by using key frame information within a segment. CONSTITUTION: An information description unit(110) describes information for a key frame of an image group which constitutes a segment. A reproduction unit(120) reproduces a key frame in a playback mode selected from a random access mode, a fast forward mode, and a fast backward mode based on the described key frame information. A video summary unit(130) transmits the key frame to a client. The client reproduces the key frame.

Abstract: PURPOSE: An adaptation apparatus for reducing packet loss errors of a scalable video cording and a method thereof are provided to remove low dependent packet by analyzing the dependability between scalability layers. CONSTITUTION: A packet scheduler(205) is connected to a scheduling buffer in a node of an IP network which receives a packet from multiple paths. If it is considered the loss of input packets, the packet scheduler removes a low dependent packet in consideration of the dependability between scalability layers. The packet scheduler provides a packet multiplexer with the input packet from which the low dependent packet is removed. A packet loss detection unit(203) detects the packet loss pattern of each NAL by reading out the NALU(Network Abstraction Layer Unit) of the inputted scalable video.
