Abstract:
Multilayer constructions are provided, for instance including a barrier layer, a sealing layer, and a polymer layer. The barrier layer has a major surface on which the sealing layer is disposed, and the sealing layer includes crosslinked silsesquioxane. The polymer layer includes a crosslinked polymer, and is disposed adjacent to a major surface of the barrier layer opposite from the sealing layer. The multilayer construction may further include additional layers, such as a substrate. Devices are also provided including the multilayer constructions.
Abstract:
A method of making a coatable composition includes: a) providing a initial composition comprising silica nanoparticles dispersed in an aqueous liquid medium, wherein the silica nanoparticles have a particle size distribution with an average particle size of less than or equal to 100 nanometers, and wherein the silica sol has a pH greater than 6; b) acidifying the initial composition to a pH of less than or equal to 4 using inorganic acid to provide an acidified composition; and c) dissolving at least one metal compound in the acidified composition to provide a coatable composition. The at least one metal compound includes at least one of a silver compound, a zinc compound, and a copper compound. Coatable compositions, antimicrobial compositions, preparable by the method are also disclosed. Antimicrobial articles including the antimicrobial compositions are also disclosed.
Abstract:
Multilayer barrier films and methods of making the films are provided. The films include a smooth layer and a barrier layer directly disposed on the smooth layer. In some cases, the smooth layer includes a thiol-ene material as a polymeric matrix material. In some cases, the films have a sandwich structure of barrier layer/smooth layer/substrate/smooth layer/barrier layer.

Abstract:
A coating composition which imparts antifog properties to substrates coated therewith. The coating compositions are removable and utilize nanoparticles functionalized with epoxy groups. The removable coating compositions are particularly useful on personal protection equipment such as face masks, shields, and protective glasses.
Abstract:
The invention provides a cleanser comprising an aqueous solvent and 0.05 to 10% by weight of layered silicate dispersed in the aqueous solvent, wherein the layered silicate has an average specific surface area of 100 m2/g or more. The cleanser has durable easy-cleaning function and allows the decrease of cleaning frequency of a hard article so that labor and expense required for cleaning a hard article can be reduced.
Abstract:
A coating composition is disclosed comprising: (i) a non-zwitterionic compound comprising sulfonate-functional groups and (a) alkoxysilane groups and/or (b) silanol-functional groups; (ii) alcohol and/or water; and (iii) a tetraalkoxysilane, oligomers thereof, lithium silicate, sodium silicate, potassium silicate, silica, or combinations thereof.
