Abstract: A head arm mounting device for one or more scanning heads in recording/playback apparatus for disk records, especially flexible magnetic disks, includes a pivot shaft for the head arm, this shaft being held in a mount, with the aid of spring means, in a manner such that it has no axial play, and producing, in conjunction with the head arm loading spring, a head loading force which is constant and essentially independent of the head arm deflection. The mounting device consists essentially of a mount and a pivot shaft, either of which may be associated with a spring. A one-piece frame-shaped member with an integral spring constitutes an optimum mount. In an advantageous embodiment, means are provided for finely adjusting the force exerted by the head arm loading spring, and for compensating for tolerances in the spring force of the loading spring in the quantity production of disk drive apparatus.

Abstract: In the production of magnetic storage plates, substrate plates of metal are subjected to a number of treatments in baths for cleaning, activating and coating the plate surface. For the simultaneous treatment of a multiplicity of plates, use is made of a rack having one or more rods (1), on which a plurality of substrate plates (2) are arrnaged in series through their central opening and which are releasibly fastened at their ends in securing means (3). For rinsing the plates after each treatment, the rack is provided with a shower device (4), which is arranged above the rods and is movably connected to a water connection. Conveying and lifting devices bring the rack to the bath tanks and into the treatment bath.

Abstract: In a container for a plurality of disk-shaped articles, the partly opened base portion possessing receiving grooves consists of two substantially identical parts which can be assembled, and two further, substantially identical cover parts which at least partially close the openings, and means are provided for disengageably locking the parts of the base portion to the cover parts. Interlocking stacking means are used for stacking a plurality of the base parts, with or without cover parts. The container of the parts of the base portion are useful for any transportation and archiving purposes during production of the articles or by their end users.

Abstract: A head arm mounting device for at least one scanning head in recording and/or playback apparatus for recording media, especially flexible recording media, comprises mounting and pivoting means, and a head arm, bearing the scanning head and, cooperating with a head arm loading spring, being so mounted that it can pivot and yield, in a compliant manner, relative to the recording medium or relative to a further scanning head. The mounting and pivoting means comprises a pivot shaft which is held in a mount having arms, with the aid of spring means which connects the arms of the mount to each other and which bias the arms in the axial direction of the pivot shaft. The mounting device and the loading spring has such a spring-characteristic curve that the loading force applied to the scanning head is essentially independent of the deflection of the head relative to the recording medium or relative to the said further scanning head.
