    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an open-cell foam exhibiting decreased oil and water absorption by coating the whole or a part of the surface of a resin having a cellular structure with a fluoroalkyl ester. SOLUTION: Preferably, an amount of a fluoroalkyl ester applied is 0.001-5 mass %, and the fluoroalkyl ester is preferably a completely fluorinated one. Preferably, the fluoroalkyl ester is a completely fluorinated 1-10C alkyl ester of acrylic acid, methacrylic acid, polyacrylic acid, polymethacrylic acid, phosphoric acid, or a 1-6C fatty acid. The objective foam is prepared by immersing a melamine resin foam in a milky aqueous solution of a fluoroalkyl ester or spraying the solution into the foam, then squeezing the foam to remove an excess of the solution, and drying the foam at 40-200 deg.C. The concentration of the milky solution used is preferably 0.1-20 mass %.

    Abstract: A process for the production of coatings based on reaction products of (A) polyhydroxypolyacrylate resins obtained from hydroxyalkyl esters of acrylic acid and/or methacrylic acid, alkyl esters of acrylic acid and/or methacrylic acid, and one or more polymerizable, olefinically unsaturated nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compounds, with or without vinylaromatics, (meth)acrylamides and other monomers, with (B) isocyanurate-containing polyisocyanates which may or may not contain biuret groups, have a functionality of from 2.5 to 6 and consist of a mixture of polyisocyanates possessing predominantly cycloaliphatically bonded isocyanate groups with those possessing predominantly aliphatically bonded isocyanate groups. The process is particularly useful for coating metal components.
