    Abstract: 1535855 Lactones BASF AG 4 March 1976 [6 March 1975] 08652/76 Heading C4P [Also in Division C2] The invention comprises diazarhodamine lactones of the general formula wherein R 1 is H or C 1 -C 4 alkyl, R 2 is C 1 -C 4 alkyl, phenyl which may be substituted by one or two C 1 -C 3 alkyl, Cl or Br substituents which may be different, R 3 and R 4 are H, C 1 -C 7 alkyl, C 5 -C 7 cycloalkyl, phenylalkyl having 7-10 C atoms or alkoxyalkyl having 3-8 C atoms or the group -N(R 3 )R 4 may form a 5-, 6- or 7- membered saturated heterocyclic ring or a 6-membered saturated heterocyclic ring which contains one of the groups -O-, -S-or-N(R 6 )- where R 6 is H, methyl or ethyl, and R 5 is phenyl which may be substituted by C 1 -C 3 alkyl, methoxy, ethoxy, Cl or Br. They are prepared by condensing a benzoylbenzoic acid of the general formula with a 2-aminopyrimidine of the general formula wherein R 1 -R 5 are as above and R 7 and R 8 are independently H, C 1 -C 4 -alkyl or C-acyl having 2-7 C atoms. Condensation takes place at 60-160‹C. in an acid solvent in presence of one or more acidic dehydrating agents. The compounds are used in pressure sensitive copying processes.

    Abstract: Title dyes are of formula: D-N=N-A (I) where D is the residue of a diazotisable aniline substd by in not 1 2nd order substit., or of a diazotisable amino-naphthalene, aminobiphenyl, aminoazobenzene, aminoanthraquinone, or heterocyclic amine, and A is a gp. of formula: where Z is H or a (substd). (cyclo)aliphatic, araliphatic aromatic, or heterocyclic gp; Z1 is H or a (substd). (cyclo)aliphatic, araliphatic or aromatic gp; Z2 is H or a (substd) aliphatic gp. or Z1 and Z2 form a heterocyclic gp. with the N atom; Z3 has the same meaning as Z1, Z4 has the same meaning as Z2, Z3 and Z4 may form a heterocyclic gp. with the N atom, and 1 of the gps. Z1-Z4 is not H. Suitable 2nd order substits. include NO2. CN, alkanoyl, aroyl, alkyl- or phenyl-sulphonyl, carbalkoxy (substd). carbamoyl, or sulphamoyl, or sulphonic acid ester gps. I are yellow to blue and can be used to dye polyacrylonitrile, synthetic polyamide, cellulose, ester and esp. linear polyester textiles. Fast dyeings of good colour strength are obtd.

    Abstract: The dyes are of formula D-N=N-A, (in which D is the group of a diazo component and A is a group of formula (I) or (II): in which B is hydrogen, alkyl opt. substd. with hydroxy, alkoxy, alkanoyl oxy, or phenoxy, aralkyl cycloalkyl or opt. substd. phenyl, R is hydrogen, 1-8 C alkyl, 2-7 C hydroxyalkyl, 3-11 C alkoxyalkyl, up to 11 C phenoxyalkyl, 2-15 C carbalkoxyalkyl, up to 15 C acyloxyalkyl, opt. substd. phenyl, cyclohexyl, benzyl, phenylethyl or epsilon -N-pyrrolidonalkyl, R1 is hydrogen, 1-8 C alkyl, 2-7 C hydroxyalkyl or up to 15 C acyloxyalkyl, or RR1 together with N form a pyrrolidine, piperidine or morpholine group, R2 is as R and R3 as R1, but not all are hydrogen. The alkyl chains may be interrupted by O atoms. The dyes are yellow to blue and suitable for colouring of textiles of polyacrylonitrile, synthetic polyamides, cellulose esters, and esp. linear polyester, giving strong colours with good fastness.
