Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily obtain a novel chemical agent for marking well penetrating into a wood and to generate marked color reaction by an extremely small amt. of the marking substance to enable visual observation, by treating the wood with arylamine represented by a specific formula. SOLUTION: In a wood marking method, wood is treated with arylamine represented by formula I, wherein Ar is a group represented by formula II, R and R are mutually unrelated hydrogen, a C1 -C18 alkyl group which may be substituted, may be interrupted in a form of an ether functional group by 1-3 oxygen atoms or interrupted by 1-3 non-adjacent C1 -C4 alkylimino groups, C5 -C7 cycloalkyl, C3 -C18 alkenyl or phenyl which may be substituted, or R and R are a 5- or 6-membered saturated heterocylic group together with a nitrogen atom.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a liquid water-based dye preparation excellent in water resistance and light resistance and desirable for the production of writing inks or printing colorants by mixing a dye with carbon black and polyethylene glycol. SOLUTION: This preparation comprises 0.1-15wt.%, based on the weight of the preparation, dye comprising 90-100wt.% dye represented by the formula (Kat is a metallic ion or an ammonium ion), 1-40wt.% carbon black having a particle size of 13-100nm, 0.1-15wt.% polyethylene glycol having an average molecular weight of 300-9,000 and the balance of water. This preparation is diluted with water or a mixture comprising water and a water-miscible organic solvent to obtain an ink. It is diluted with a 1-4C alkanol optionally together with water, and the diluted preparation is optionally mixed with a binder to obtain a colorant for a water-based alcoholic coating material or for printing.
