    Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing N-phosphonomethyl iminodiacetic acid by reacting an alkali metal salt of iminodiacetic acid with phosphorus trichloride in an aqueous solution, forming iminodiacetic acid hydrochloride, phosphoric acid and corresponding alkali metal chloride.
