Abstract: Insulating panels are made with high resistance to fire and a density of 80-230 g/l, from a mixt. of (a) 99-80 wt. % light inorganic particles with average dia. 0.05-3 mm and bulk density 30-150 g/l; (b) 0-50% inorganic fibres or granules; and (c) 1-25 wt.% organic binder with high mol. wt., based on (co)polymers of unsatd. olefinic monomers. The novelty is that (a) and (b) are mixed with a 1-50 wt. % aq. dispersion of (c) and the bulk of the water removed mechanically. The damp mixt. is then pressed into panels 1-25 cm thick and dried, pref. at 100-150 degrees C. Building panels are obtd. with good mechanically strength which, in the event of fire, evolve virtually no combustible and toxic gases. The panels also meet DIN specification 4102, class B1 (difficult to ignite), and class W 90 (high fire-resistance). Pref. panels have density 120-180 g/l.

Abstract: This invention relates to the use of quaternised polyalkylene glycol ethers of polyamines for the heat-sensitisation of anionic and nonionic polymer dispersions as described in Patent Application P 3114091.2, where the polymer dispersions employed are carboxyl-free poly(meth)acrylate dispersions prepared by emulsion polymerisation using hydrogen peroxide and ascorbic acid as redox catalyst and using ionic and nonionic ethylene oxide adducts as emulsifiers.

Abstract: A process and appts. are claimed to develop a wet felting material from fibres in a suspension, with a moving mesh drawing the wet fibres at an angle out of the suspension tank for suction units under the mesh to extract the water. The fibres, in the felting material, then travel without help of additional feed units to a drying surface located under the mesh level. The system dispenses with the need for a pick-up felt to transfer the material from the water-extraction mesh to the drying station, where moisture from the fibres would build up in the pick-up felt and progressively increase the drying action needed for the fibres. The process is designed for the use of a suspension of fibres of cellulose, rayon, fibrides of polyethylene or polystyrene, fibres of polyamides, polyesters, polyacrylnitrile, PVC, glass, asbestos and their mixts.
