The invention relates to a method for producing filled papers and filled paper products by adding an aqueous suspension of at least one finely particulate polymer-pigment hybrid to a paper-making stock and dewatering the paper-making stock while forming sheets. The polymer-pigment hybrid is obtained by grinding an aqueous suspension of at least inorganic pigment in the presence of at least one binder and optionally by drying the aqueous suspension so obtained and redispersing the dried polymer-pigment hybrid in water. The invention also relates to the polymer-pigment hybrids so obtained as fillers for producing filled paper or filled paper products.

Fremgangsmåte for fremstilling av papir og papirprodukter inneholdende fyllstoff, ved tilsetning av en vandig suspensjon av minst ett findelt polymerpigmenthybrid til en papirmasse og drenering av papirmassen med dannelse av ark, der polymerpigmenthybridet kan oppnås ved finmaling av en vandig suspensjon av minst ett uorganisk pigment i nærvær av minst ett bindemiddel, og, hvis hensiktsmessig, ved tørking av den vandige suspensjonen som oppnås ved å finfordele det tørkete polymerpigmenthybridet igjen i vann, samt anvendelse av polymerpigmenthybrider, som oppnås på denne måten, som et fyllstoff for fremstilling av papir og papirprodukter inneholdende fyllstoff.

The addition of a (co)polymer B, comprising an N-vinylcarboxamide, to a polymer dispersion, the bonding force of this binder in a paper coating composition is increased, and the optical brightener in the paper coating composition is extremely strongly activated. Polymer dispersions containing: (i) a (co) polymer A with at least one main monomer selected from 1-20C alkyl (meth)acrylate, vinyl ester from up to 20C carboxylic acid, up to 20C vinyl aromatics, ethylenically unsaturated nitrile, vinyl halide, vinyl ether or 1-10C allyl ethers containing alcohols and aliphatic 2-8C hydrocarbons and 1 or two double bonds included by polymerization (sic); and (ii) at least one N-vinylcarboxyic acid amide in polymerized form containing (co)polymer B. Independent claims are included for: (1) a paper coating composition containing the polymer dispersion; and (2) a process for preparation of the polymer dispersion by mixing a dispersion of (co)polymer A with (co)polymer B, its dispersion, solution, suspension, or emulsion, and a brightener, its solution, or suspension.

Process for the production of filler-containing papers and filler-containing paper products by addition of an aqueous suspension of at least one finely divided polymer-pigment hybrid to a paper stock and drainage of the paper stock with sheet formation, the polymer-pigment hybrid being obtainable by milling an aqueous suspension of at least one inorganic pigment in the presence of at least one binder and, if appropriate, by drying the aqueous suspension thus obtainable and redispersing the dried polymer-pigment hybrid in water, and the use of the polymer-pigment hybrids thus obtainable as a filler for the production of filler-containing paper or filler-containing paper products.
