Abstract: A process for coating surfaces with a firmly-clamped film by heating, pre-stretching the film and forming the film under reduced and/or elevated pressure involves heating the film during and/or after the forming operation, using film with an elongation at break (parallel or at right angles) of more than 100% at 23 deg C (DIN/ISO 53455/527). Independent claims are also included for: (1) moulded products, sheet or foil obtained by coating at least one surface by this process; (2) a forming system for this process comprising a film feed station, a substrate input station, pre-stretching station(s), forming station(s), a heating station, a conveyor for the film and optionally a further processing station, in which the heating station comes after the forming station (in time or space).
