    Abstract: Procedimiento para la obtención de poliuretanos termoplásticos, caracterizado porque (i) haciéndose reaccionar un poliéster, preferentemente de peso molecular elevado, de modo preferente parcialmente cristalino, termoplástico, con un diol (c), y a continuación (ii) haciéndose reaccionar el producto de reacción de (i) que contiene (b1) poliesterdiol con un punto de fusión mayor que 150ºC, así como, en caso dado (c) diol junto con (b2) polieterdioles y/o poliesterdioles, respectivamente con un punto de fusión menor que 150ºC, y un peso molecular de 501 a 8.000 g/mol, así como, en caso dado, otros (c) dioles con un peso molecular de 62 a 500 g/mol con (a) isocianato, en caso dado en presencia de (d) catalizadores y/o (e) agentes auxiliares.

    Abstract: A thermoplastic polyurethane (I) has: (a) a Shore A hardness of 45-80; (b) a tensile strength (DIN53504) of greater than 15 MPa; (c) a tear strength (DIN53515) of greater than 30 N/mm and an abrasion resistance (DIN 53516) of less than 250 mm . Independent claims are included for: (1) the production of (I) by mixing a thermoplastic polyurethane with a diol having a mol. wt. of 62-700 g/mol, followed by the addition of an isocyanate and optionally an isocyanate reactive compound, having a mol. wt. of 701-8000, diols having a mol. wt. of 62-700, catalyst and/or additive and/or pressing aids; and (2) The production of film, molded articles, rolls, fibers or cladding in automobiles, ducting, cable connectors, bellows, cable sheathing, sealant, or dampening elements containing the thermoplastic polyurethane (I).

    Abstract: Disclosed are wholly aromatic mesomorphic polyester amide imides which form a liquid-crystalline fiberforming melt below 320.degree.C and are composed of: a) from 5 to 35 mole % of repeat units of the formula (I) and/or (II): (I) (II) where the Xs in the formulae (I) and (II) can be identical or different and each is -O-, -S-, -SO2-, -CO-, CH2- or = C(CH3)2 and n is 0 or 1, b) from 0 to 30 mole % of repeat units of the formulae (III) and/or (IV): (III) (IV) c) a molar amount corresponding to the total amount of components a and b, of one or more of the repeat units of the formulae (V), (VI), (VII), (VIII) and (IX): (V) (VI) (VII) (VIII) (IX) with the proviso that at least one of the repeat units of formulae (V) and (VI) is allways present in the composition of component c) if desired from 5 to 25 mole % of one or more of the repeat units of the formulae (X), (XI) and (XII): (X) (XI) (XII) e) repreat units of the formula (XIII): (XIII) the mole percentages of components a), b), c), d) and e) adding up to 100 mole% in each case. Also disclosed are the preparation thereof and fibers, films and moldings prepared therefrom.
