    Abstract: PURPOSE: To compensate the eccentricity of the support of a rotator by operating the adjustable support of the rotator using a control member that is operated after an actual value obtained by detecting the movement of the rotator is inputted. CONSTITUTION: Rolls 1 and 2 form a nip to be maintained constantly regardless of the shape and the support eccentricity between themselves. The edge part of the roll l is supported by a liquid pressure support 4 and slides across the axial line. Then, a detection device 9 outputs an electrical signal corresponding to an interval between rolls from mechanical detection elements 10 and 11 that contact the surfaces of the rolls 1 and 2. The output forms a compensation signal from a target value S for an interval signal and an interval by a control device 12 through an actual value input I. The compensation signal operates high-speed response servo valves 7 and 8 through a voltage/pressure converter 3. Then, pressure in a compartment 5 of the support 4 is adjusted via a hydraulic conduit 14, thus compensating for the shape and support eccentricity of the rolls 1 and 2 by the measurement of eccentricity and the succeeding quasi- simultaneous feedback.
