    Abstract: A process and device for determining a hormone in a liquid such as blood wherein measured amounts of the liquid to be tested, of a radioactively-labelled hormone, and of a hormone-binding protein or antibody, all present in a measuring vial, are contacted with an adsorbing vial formed from a mixture of a thermoplastic resin and an ion exchange resin for adsorbing unbound hormone, and the residual radioactivity of the liquid mixture is then measured after draining back into said measuring vial.

    Abstract: In process and assembly to separate trioxane from a mixture of liquids also containing water and formaldehyde, the novelty is that the mixture is first distilled at low pressure and the resulting distillate is then distilled again at a higher pressure to produce trioxane as the sump residue. The lower pressure and the higher pressure are in the range 0.1 to 20 bar (absolute), pref. approx. 0.5 bar for the lower pressure and approx. 6 bar for the higher pressure. Further claimed is that the trioxane is subsequently used as a disinfectant or for the production of polyoxymethylenes or polyvalent alcohols. A suitable assembly incorporates two distillation columns linked in series in which the head of the first is linked to the central section of the second, and the head of the second column is linked to the central section of the first.
