Abstract: A method, system and apparatus for on-demand application resource allocation. In accordance with the method of the invention, an anticipated workload can be compared to a measured capacity for an application cluster in one or more server computing nodes in a server farm. If the measured capacity warrants a re-configuration of the application clusters, a new placement can be computed for application server instances in individual ones of the server computing nodes. Subsequently, the new placement can be applied to the server computing nodes in the server farm. In this regard, the applying step can include starting and stopping selected ones of the application server instances in different ones of the server computing nodes to effectuate the new placement.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide a method, system and computer program product for content caching with remote filtering services in a radio access network (RAN). In an embodiment of the invention, a method for content caching with remote filtering services in a RAN can include receiving a response to a request from an end user device wirelessly coupled to a base station of the RAN, marking the response as uncacheable, and routing the response to the base station over a data communications network. In one aspect of the embodiment, the response can be received in an RNC of the RAN. Of note, the process of marking the response as uncacheable can depend upon the evaluation of a policy with respect to the response. Finally, in another aspect of the embodiment, marking the response as uncacheable, can include annotating a hypertext transfer protocol (HTTP) header of the response to indicate that the response is not to be cached in the base station.

Beachtenswerterweise kann der Prozess des Markierens der Antwort als nicht zwischenspeicherbar von der Bewertung der Antwort anhand eines Regelwerks abhängen. Schließlich kann nach einem weiteren Aspekt der Ausführungsform das Markieren der Antwort als nicht zwischenspeicherbar das Versehen eines Hypertext Transfer Protokoll(HTTP)-Dateikopfs mit einer Anmerkung aufweisen, dass die Antwort nicht in der Basisstation zwischengespeichert werden soll.
