Abstract: JA9-89-009 DISK CONTROL APPARATUS A disk control apparatus for controlling head access to a multi-track disk includes a means for detecting final sectors in the disks and generating a final sector detection signal upon locating any final sector designating means provided in the respective final sectors of each of the tracks of the disk. The final sector designating means may be provided by merely reversing the bit value (e.g. 0 to 1) in an I.D. field.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the device and method for efficiently implementing a head changeover by setting order of changing heads considering of offset amts. between individual heads, respectively. SOLUTION: The position of the head 82 is driven by a voice coil motor(VCM) 83, and the control on a spindle motor 81 and the VCM is implemented by a spindle motor driver 84 and a VCM driver 85, which are connected with a microprocessor unit(MPU) 86. An output signal of the head 82 is executed via an amplifier(AMP) 87, a read/write channel 88 and a hard disk controller(HDC) 90. The HDC 90 is connected with a memory 89, and the memory 89 is stored with an offset amt. table and a head sequence table as well. A read command is inputted to the MPU 86 by the HDC 90, and the head is positioned to implement the read-out of a prescribed data by the MPU86 with obtained seek objective information on the track, head and sector.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To shorten a track changeover time and to reduce a processor load by providing a head position control means by which a final sector indication means completes an access of a head to a detected track, according to the final sector detection signal. CONSTITUTION: A final sector of each track on a disk is provided with a final sector indication means. In a device which performs positioning control of a head 6 onto a disk 2 under a control of a processor 10 like, for example, a mask processor, the processor 10 can complete an access of the head 6 to a track of which a final sector has been detected, by inputting the detected signal for the final sector indication means to the processor 10 as an interrupt signal. Also, it can make the head 6 move to the next target track. Consequently, when reading or writing is performed over multiple tracks, a track changeover time can be shorten and, as a result, a processor load can be reduced.
