Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform the easy-to-use execution monitoring of processing inside a digital computer by outputting analysis data corresponding to setting performed by a user by a freely selectable time sequence and at a freely selectable speed. SOLUTION: The analysis data inside a main memory 223 are operated corresponding to the setting performed by the user so as to output the analysis data by the freely selectable time sequence and at the freely selectable speed. A controller 224 reads the analysis data from the memory 223 corresponding to the setting of the user, processes them and then transfers the analysis data to an output unit 222 and the data are supplied corresponding to the setting performed by the user. The analysis data are supplied similarly to the case of performing a backup operation. The user can access any moment during the backup operation, jump to any time period during the backup operation and change the display speed of the analysis data.

Abstract: The method involves generating analysis data with time stamps for monitoring a process; passing the analysis data to a working memory (223) in an analysis system (200), manipulating the analysis data in the working memory according to a user specification that the data can be output with a freely selectable time sequence and speed; and outputting the data according to the user requirement. An Independent claim is also included for an arrangement for monitoring processes in digital computers.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method for backing up an in-memory database (IMD), the method comprises the steps of triggering a the securing of data of the in-memory database (IMD) to a first savepoint (SP1), securing data of the in-memory database to the first savepoint (SP1) and backing up the data of the first savepoint (SP1) on a perÂsistent storage medium (7). The first savepoint may be stored on a fist persistent medium (3) and the backup of the savepoint may be stored on a second persistent storage medium (7). The backup of the savepoint may occur after the savepoint has reached consistency. The data of the savepoint may be backed up using flashcopy or snapshot technology. Backup of the savepoint may be controlled by a savepoint manager (2.1).

Abstract: A data management system 10 comprises file system 110 controlling access by database application 119 to database container file 115 stored in first storage 121, backup client 110 connected to remote backup server 120, where a first version (801v1 in Figure 8) of the container file is saved, and a first inode comprising information on data blocks of the first version of the container file. The method comprises: creating a change tracking table 130-131 (803 in Figure 8) for the container file, and repeatedly adding an entry upon detecting an access to a data block, where the entry comprises an indication 146 of the data block and information 148 indicating the type of access, including at least one of read and write; pausing application execution; performing a snapshot of a storage volume containing the file system and container file in second storage 122; resuming the application; mounting the snapshot storage volume; recreating the file system in second storage; identifying entries 144 in the table associated with a write access; copying the associated data to the backup server; and updating the first inode, obtaining a second inode. A journaling function may be used for detecting an access. Incremental backup is facilitated.
