The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for providing a plurality of transport interactive 3DTV broadcasting services in the provision of higher definition 3D video service and 3D data service, while maintaining the compatibility with the existing digital TV broadcasts or 3DTV services. To this end, an input 3D video is encoded to generate a 3D additional video base stream and a 3D additional video enhanced stream. Engineer information for defining engineers, which includes 3D broadcasting service configuration information, is generated, and then an encoded 2D base video stream, an encoded audio stream, the encoded 3D additional video base stream and the engineer information are multiplexed and transmitted via a base layer. The 3D additional video enhanced stream is multiplexed and transmitted via an enhanced layer.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for providing 3D still image service in a specific time interval during audio-visual service of digital broadcast are provided. The method includes receiving a reference image and a 3D supplement image, which construct a 3D still image, through a data channel or a video channel together with a 2D image; restoring the reference image and the 3D supplement image to the 3D still image; and displaying the 3D still image in a specific interval during digital audio-visual broadcast using the 2D image according to display information which includes a play time and a play mode.

Provided are a system and method for providing a Traffic and Travel Information (TTI) data service related to a video service in digital broadcasting. A transmission device for providing a Traffic and Travel Information (TTI) data service related to a video service in digital broadcasting, the transmission device including: an encoding unit for a specific scene of a video to be broadcasted, TTI data related to a specific scene, and link data for linking the specific scene with the TTI data; and a broadcasting stream creating unit for creating a transmission stream in conformity to a broadcasting standard based on the video data, the TTI data, and the encoded and outputted link data.

Provided is a method for providing a DMB-based 3D stereoscopic image service using an MPEG-4 object descriptor of a new structure to provide users with a realistic 3D image service while maintaining compatibility to a conventional DMB system, and a decoding apparatus and method for the DMB-based 3D stereoscopic image service. The method includes the steps of: a) defining in a data service component type that a broadcast service is a DMB service, and defining a dimension of the DMB service in a user application type; and b) assigning a reference image and 3D additional information for a serviced 3D image as different streams which are independent from each other by using different object descriptors.

Provided is a DMB/mobile telecommunication integrated service terminal and a method for connecting a DMB network and a mobile telecommunication network, which can provide a DMB broadcasting service in a mobile environment and a two-way data service through a mobile telecommunication network simultaneously by integrating a mobile telecommunication terminal and a mobile DMB receiving terminal and physically/logically connecting them into one entity. The DMB/mobile telecommunication integrated service terminal for connecting a network between DMB and a mobile telecommunication includes a DMB broadcasting processing block for extracting video/audio and synchronized data, transmitting the video/audio to corresponding application program for restoration, and transmitting the DMB data to a DMB/mobile telecommunication network connecting block, but generating network linkage data by integrating mobile data with the DMB data in case that the mobile data are transmitted from a mobile telecommunication accessing block; a DMB/mobile telecommunication network connecting block for controlling the DMB broadcasting processing block, an application program or a mobile telecommunication accessing block to receive a DMB broadcasting or provide a mobile telecommunication service, requesting additional mobile data to a return channel server through the mobile telecommunication accessing block upon a user request during DMB broadcasting reception, and processing the network linkage data generated in the DMB broadcasting processing block; and the mobile telecommunication accessing block for performing a mobile telecommunication network accessing process receiving the mobile data from the return channel server, and transmitting the mobile data to the DMB broadcasting processing block or the DMB/mobile telecommunication network connecting block under control of the DMB/mobile telecommunication network connecting block.
