    Abstract: PURPOSE: An apparatus for generating multi-wavelength light is provided to have high single mode stability and high yield according to transmission spectra, reduce light loss, improve element reliability, and increase the coupling efficiency of lights. CONSTITUTION: A high reflective coating film(110) is formed on a cross-section of a gain portion(120). The high reflective coating film can be composed of mirror elements having high reflection or a metal or dielectric thin film coating surface. The gain portion generates multi-wavelength lights. Each channel included in the gain portion includes a gain waveguide for providing gains to generated light. A reflecting portion(130) again reflects the lights entering from the gain waveguide to the gain portion. A multiplexing portion(140) multiplexes single mode lights generated in each channel of a distributed bragg reflector laser.

    Abstract: A millimeter wave generator and a method for generating a millimeter wave are provided to perform simultaneously a millimeter wave generating function and a frequency up-converting function by using an optical method and a harmonic locking method. A mode locking laser diode(120) includes a DFB(Distributed FeedBack) region and a gain region in order to generate an optical pulse of a high frequency through passive mode locking. A modulator(200) is used for modulating an external optical signal according to an electrical signal and applying the modulated external optical signal to the mode locking laser diode in order to lock the optical pulse. An RF locking signal unit(320) applies the electrical signal to the modulator. The passive mode locking is formed by applying a current less than a limited current to the DFB region. A millimeter wave is generated by using a high harmonic pulse generated from the mode locking laser diode.
