    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce interference from other transmitters and other receivers by calculating an optimum weight vector for optimizing the signal-to-total- interference-signal ratio of an antenna beam based on data relating to mutual interference level. SOLUTION: The weight vector for optimizing the signal-to-total-interference- signal ratio (S/TI) in antenna output is generated, based on the data relating to the mutual interference level. Then, the optimum weight vector is stored and used in the same time slot in a later frame. Then, the S/TI is calculated, supplied to a cell controller 25 and finally supplied to the other cell controller inside a cluster as well. Simultaneously, a beam formation electronics forms a beam. The signals received by the K pieces of radiation antenna elements are multiplied with the corresponding components of the weight vector by a multiplier 42, the total sum is obtained and a radiation pattern for optimizing the S/TI in the antenna output is generated.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid deterioration in quality of an active speech and channel interruption by providing a multi-beam antenna whose direction is controllable to a base station in a time division multiplex permanent radio loop system and controlling a plurality of transmission and reception beams changed timewise and assignment of time slots in cross reference with each other and allowing the base station to make communication with a single terminal equipment in the assigned time slot. SOLUTION: A cell controller 25 based on information of a database 45 gives the instruction of configuring an antenna pattern to realize an optimum signal to interruption signal ratio to a transmission beam shape device 40a. The database 45 as information relating to an interference level between all possible channels in a cell and a possible channel in an adjacent cell and the information is updated by measuring signal strength periodically. A transmission frequency and a reception frequency are slightly different and a reception beam with an antenna pattern with a optimum signal to interference signal ratio is formed similarly.

    Abstract: A system and method for monitoring media audience habits and for obtaining real time responses to survey queries posed to a user from a survey provider concerning programming experienced by the user. A media program identifier located in an environment containing a primary media receiving device identifies media programming experienced by the user on the primary device. An input unit also located in the environment containing the primary receiving device obtains user identification and user demographics information by receiving responses to specific queries from the user. Survey queries concerning programming experienced by the user are provided to the user on the input unit or the primary receiving device for responding thereto. The programming identification, user identification and demographics information as well as survey query responses are then transmitted to a survey provider for use in deriving media program ratings information.

    Abstract: A technique for the blocking of individual programs and/or portions of programs transmitted in a source signal, e.g., a cable television signal. In particular, individual programs and/or portions of programs within a class of programs are blocked, while allowing for the viewing of certain other programs even within the same programming class. The transmitted source signal contains individual programs having a transparent program identifier and/or transparent content identifier associated with individual programs in the source signal transmission. As the source signal enters, e.g ., a particular subscriber location, the source signal is monitored in accordance with a program viewing profile defined by the subscriber. That is, particular ones of the programs and/or portion thereof available in the source signal transmission supplied to the subscrib er can either be unblocked, i.e., viewable, or blocked, i.e., unviewable, at the discretion o f the subscriber. The blocking of particular ones of the programs and/or portion thereof is accomplished as a function of the transparent program identifier and/or transparent content identifier associated with a program which is embedded in the video and/or audio component of the source signal. The transparent identifiers are transmitted concurrently with theindividual program as the source signal is received at the subscriber location. Advantageously, the subscriber is given complete control and selectivity over which programs and/or portions thereof are viewed, e.g., by children of the subscriber.

    Abstract: A technique for dynamic call processing which utilizes information collected from the calling party's information appliance to route an incoming call. A variety of information is dynamically captured and stored by the calling party's information appliance, e.g., telephone, computer, set top box and the like, over time. The type of information includes, but its not limited to, items such as personal data, credit information, purchasing history, market study data, and geographical information. In accordance with the technique, when the calling party places a call to a call center location, the information stored in the calling party's information appliance is accessed and used to route the call to an appropriate agent in the call center. Advantageously, incoming call center calls are dynamically routed without the reliance on static applications, databases or other traditional network management techniques.
