Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce interference from other transmitters and other receivers by calculating an optimum weight vector for optimizing the signal-to-total- interference-signal ratio of an antenna beam based on data relating to mutual interference level. SOLUTION: The weight vector for optimizing the signal-to-total-interference- signal ratio (S/TI) in antenna output is generated, based on the data relating to the mutual interference level. Then, the optimum weight vector is stored and used in the same time slot in a later frame. Then, the S/TI is calculated, supplied to a cell controller 25 and finally supplied to the other cell controller inside a cluster as well. Simultaneously, a beam formation electronics forms a beam. The signals received by the K pieces of radiation antenna elements are multiplied with the corresponding components of the weight vector by a multiplier 42, the total sum is obtained and a radiation pattern for optimizing the S/TI in the antenna output is generated.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the possibility of reject by assigning at least to timewise communication slots to a terminal equipment making a request in the case that possibility of interference caused by a communication link or interference received by the communication link is low. SOLUTION: A cell controller 25 receives a service request via a control channel. A cell controller 25 retrieves a proper up-link time slot for a terminal equipment. In the case that the proper up-link time slot is found out, the cell controller 25 retrieves a proper down-link time slot for the terminal equipment. In the case that the cell controller 25 cannot find out proper up and down link slots, the service request is rejected. When the cell controller 25 finds out the proper up and down link slots, they are assigned to the terminal equipment. The cell controller 25 informs the new link to cell controllers of other adjacent cells.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wireless communication system capable of assigning channels to every communication request efficiently without adjustments between the cells. SOLUTION: A priority list of a channel group is created for every cell without adjustments between the cells, or for a sector when every cell is sectorized with using a directional antennal, a channel assignment is processed efficiently by selecting channels to be assigned responding to service requests among the highest priority group having usable channels at the time of requests. The list is created based on the various interference measurements. The list tends to stay the same for relatively a long period. But the list should be re- decided periodically to ensure the use of the most suitable list. For example, the list should be changed according to a new configuration exerting effect on interference in a system or according to seasonal vegetational changes.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid deterioration in quality of an active speech and channel interruption by providing a multi-beam antenna whose direction is controllable to a base station in a time division multiplex permanent radio loop system and controlling a plurality of transmission and reception beams changed timewise and assignment of time slots in cross reference with each other and allowing the base station to make communication with a single terminal equipment in the assigned time slot. SOLUTION: A cell controller 25 based on information of a database 45 gives the instruction of configuring an antenna pattern to realize an optimum signal to interruption signal ratio to a transmission beam shape device 40a. The database 45 as information relating to an interference level between all possible channels in a cell and a possible channel in an adjacent cell and the information is updated by measuring signal strength periodically. A transmission frequency and a reception frequency are slightly different and a reception beam with an antenna pattern with a optimum signal to interference signal ratio is formed similarly.

Abstract: In a method of determining a beam to be generated for a user, a user may be selected from a user population based on a parameter that is tracked for each user in the user population, and a beam preferred by the selected user may be determined. The preferred beam may be generated and used by a base station to transmit a pilot signal to the user population. Each user of the user population responds to the pilot signal. The base station may run a scheduling algorithm and schedule a user based on feedback received from all the users in the user population, and information may be transmitted to the scheduled user using the preferred beam.

Abstract: Without intercell coordination on a per communication request basis, channel assignment can be efficiently performed by developing for each cell, or a sector thereof when the cells are sectorized using directional antennas, a priority list of groups of channels, and selecting a channel to be assigned in response to a request for service from the highest priority group which has available channels at the time of the service request. The priority lists are developed based on various interference measurements that are made. The priority lists tend to remain the same for relatively long periods of time. However, periodically, the priority lists should be redetermined to insure that the best lists are being employed. For example the lists may need to be changed due to new construction or to seasonal vegetation changes, which may affect the interference experienced in the system.
