    Abstract: A pH measuring electrode having a sensor film (3) which is sensitive to hydrogen ion (H ) in solution and method of manufacturing it are described. The electrode has a sensor film (3) of metal oxide deposited on an electrically conductive support (1) so that the sensor film can be miniaturized. Also, in a further embodiment, the electrode includes a porous film (23) of insulation material coated on the surface of the metal oxide sensor film so that the sensor film is not affected by any interferring substances.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a method and device for restoring a changed electrode potential of a pH measuring electrode using metal oxide or metal for sensitive film to an original potential condition in a short time. CONSTITUTION:Electrode potential-changed pH measuring electrodes 1-4 using iridium oxide for pH-sensitive film are electrically shortcircuitted by electrically connecting their leads 1a-4a to each other, and they are immersed in neutral phosphate solution 5 of pH 6.86 for about an hour. The pH-measuring electrodes of which electrode potential is changed can be restored almost to an original potential condition in a short time to be stabilized, so a very good efficiency is achieved, and because they can be restored to the potential condition where calibration can be performed sufficiently to be stabilized, thereby they can be reused without being wasted and disposed as defectives.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a pH-measuring electrode with a metal oxide for enabling pH to be measured accurately without being affected by a coexisting substance as a pH-sensitive film. CONSTITUTION:An electrode-sensitive portion 24 consisting of a sensitive film support 21 in a specified shape and dimensions. a metal oxide film 22 which is formed on one surface of this sensitive film support for example by sputtering, and a porous insulation film 23 which is clad on an entire surface of this metal oxide film 22 by sputtering in a similar manner is fitted into a penetration hole which is formed on a bottom surface of a cylindrical support pipe 25 in a liquid-concentration state. The metal oxide film 22 which becomes a pH- sensitive film is positioned outside the support pipe 25 where its nearly half contacts a liquid whose pH is to be measured (a liquid to be measured). The porous insulation film 23 covering the metal oxide film 22 eliminates an interference substance and protects the pH-sensitive film.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To make it possible to accurately and simple measure the inherent acidified state of paper, by holding paper of which pH must be measured between an upper side block and a lower side block through an O-ring and surrounding the paper within the O-ring by upper and lower side blocks. CONSTITUTION:Paper 1 of which pH must be measured is held between a upper side block 2 and a lower side block 3 through an O-ring 6. Further, the block 3 having a recessed part 5 is fixed in opposed relation to the block 2 and a bottomed hole is formed inside both blocks. Furthermore, a non-aqueous solvent 7 is dripped on the paper held between both blocks 2, 3 from above and passes through the paper to be accumulated in the bottomed hole. The non-aqueous solvent 7 in the bottomed hole is contacted with the paper 1 and the pH of the non-aqueous solvent 7 extracting an acidic component from the paper 1 is measured. By this method, the inherent acidified state of the paper 1 can be measured accurately and simply without destructing the paper 1.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of a fault by injecting a highly water absorptive resin at an ordinary temp. into an internal liquid of an electrode and solidifying the internal liquid of the electrode so as to prohibit the generation of foam.     Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a method and device for easily measuring the pH of electrolytic acid water at a manufacturing site or a usage site such as a hospital and a house. CONSTITUTION:Two pH sensitive electrodes 3 and 4 are laid out at a channel 2 inside a flow cell 1, the pH sensitive electrodes 3 and 4 are calibrated with tap water supplied to the channel 2 as a calibration liquid, and then electrolytic acid water is supplied to only the pH sensitive electrode 4 while the pH sensitive electrode 3 is allowed to contact the tap water. While the tap water and the electrolytic acid water are liquid-joined in the channel, the pH of the electrolytic acid water is measured according to the difference in the potential between two pH sensitive electrodes 3 and 4.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To make measurement in a stable moist state by allowing paper to be measured to contact a flat glass film having a measuring electrode, disposing upper and lower blocks each having a through-hole to face each other via an O-ring and measuring the pH of the moistened paper. CONSTITUTION:A fibrous material such as cotton 15 is held on the inside of the glass film 12of the composite glass electrode 6 so that foam is not generated near the film 12. A liquid junction part 13 is provided to the top end of an outside peripheral glass tube enclosing a reference electrode 11 by lapping and fitting the measuring electrode 10 and the periphery at the top end of the glass film 12 which is the partition wall of the electrode 11 to connect the internal liquid 9 of the electrode 11 to an internal liquid tank 19 on the outside. A head pressure is exerted to the liquid junction part 13 to gradually discharge the liquid 9 to the outside. The paper 5 to be measured is placed on the lower block 2 and the upper block 1 is placed thereon. The blocks 1, 2 are fixed via the O-ring 4. The film 12 of the electrode 6 contacts the rear surface of the paper 5 in this state and pure water, etc., are dropped from the through-hole 3 of the block 1 to moisten the paper 5, then the pH thereof is measured. The measurement is thus made in the stable moist state.
