    Abstract: PURPOSE:To measure the concn. of an oxochlorine compd. such as dissolved chlorine dioxide using a membrane-coated electrode of a diaphragmn type polarograph electrode method or a galvanic cell type membrane-coated electrode without receiving the effect of the contamination or solvent of a soln. causing the deterioration or damage of the membrane-coated electrode. CONSTITUTION:The coating membrane 6 of a membrane-coated electrode of a diaphragmn type polarograph electrode method or a galvani cell type membrane coated electrode is exposed to the vapor phase 4 being in contact with the sample soln. in a container 2 airtightly isolated from the outside and chlorine dioxide in the vapor phase reaching diffusion equilibrium with respect to the sample soln. 1 is measured and, from the correlation between the preliminarily experimentally calculated concn. of chlorine dioxide dissolved in the sample soln. 1 and the concn. of chlorine dioxide in the vapor phase 4 held to a diffusion equilibrium state with respect to the soln. 1, the concn. of chlorine dioxide dissolved in the sample soln. 1 is calculated.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To determine the cell concentration and cell activity in a cell suspension liquid at the same time by placing a chemiluminescence detector in a detection channel and an absorbance detector in a sample supplying channel, etc., mixing a sample supplied through a sample channel and a reagent supplied through a reagent channel in a mixer and transferring the mixture through the detection channel. CONSTITUTION:A sample liquid S containing suspended cells in injected into a carrier liquid C1 and an ATP extraction liquid R is injected into the carrier liquid before a mixer 11. A luminescent reagent E containing luciferin and luciferase is injected into a carrier liquid C2 and the sample liquid is mixed to the reagent liquid with a mixer 12. A sample channel 2 is joined to a reagent channel 4 and the mixture is passed through the mixer 13 to a chemiluminescence detector 6 and an absorbance detector 7 to determine the ATP concentration and turbidity. The ATP concentration in the cell and the concentration outside of the cell can be separately determined by injecting the ATP extraction liquid R and without using the injection of the liquid.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prolong the life of a reagent and calibrating liquid by providing a reagent vessel connected to a detector in a thermostatic chamber which maintains the vessel at a room temp. or below. CONSTITUTION:After a sample liquid S is supplied by a pump 7 to an injector 10, the injector 10 is rotated to switch the flow passage to the flow passage of a carrier liquid C1 and the sample liquid S cut off in such a manner is inserted by the carrier liquid C1 fed by a pump 6 and is mixed 12. The flow passage of the sample liquid S is connected to the flow passage from a calibrat ing liquid vessel 1 by a 3-way valve 5 just before the pump 7. The calibrating liquid can be supplied to the ejector 10 in place of the sample liquid S by switching the 3-way valve 5 at the time of calibration. On the other hand, the reagent is supplied from the reagent vessel 2 by a pump 9 to another injector 11 and the reagent cut off by a similarly switching the injector 11 is inserted by the carrier liquid C2 and is mixed 13 by a pump 8. The liquid mixture from the mixers 12, 13 is further mixed 14 and is passed through a detector 15, from which the liquid mixture is discharged. This liquid mixture is processed 16 as an electrical signal and the concn. thereof is determined.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To make it possible to accurately and simple measure the inherent acidified state of paper, by holding paper of which pH must be measured between an upper side block and a lower side block through an O-ring and surrounding the paper within the O-ring by upper and lower side blocks. CONSTITUTION:Paper 1 of which pH must be measured is held between a upper side block 2 and a lower side block 3 through an O-ring 6. Further, the block 3 having a recessed part 5 is fixed in opposed relation to the block 2 and a bottomed hole is formed inside both blocks. Furthermore, a non-aqueous solvent 7 is dripped on the paper held between both blocks 2, 3 from above and passes through the paper to be accumulated in the bottomed hole. The non-aqueous solvent 7 in the bottomed hole is contacted with the paper 1 and the pH of the non-aqueous solvent 7 extracting an acidic component from the paper 1 is measured. By this method, the inherent acidified state of the paper 1 can be measured accurately and simply without destructing the paper 1.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To carry out a sensitive measurement of intracellular ATP, suitable for a food sanitation test, etc., while reducing inhibition of the enzyme caused by a surfactant by bringing a cell-containing sample into contact with an ATP- extracting reagent and an enzymatic reaction inhibitor and measuring ATP by using the biochemical luminescence method. CONSTITUTION:A cell-containing sample solution 4 is led through a passage 22 for the sample solution to an injector 14 by a pump 10. A carrier solution 3 containing an ATP-extracting reagent for extracting intracellular adenosine triphosphate (ATP) and an enzymatic reaction inhibitor is then led to the injector 14 by a pump 9 so as to be brought into contact with the sample solution 4 for the purpose of extraction of the intracellular ATP. The sample solution 4 is subsequently led through a mixer 17 to a mixing passage 28 where the sample solution 4 is joined with a luciferin and luciferase-containing luminous reagent 2 supplied through a mixer 16 by an injector 13 so as to generate light by a biochemical reaction. The amount of the generated light is detected by a chemiluminescence detector 19 and then compared with data of known concentration samples by using a computer 20, thus measuring the concentration of ATP contained in the sample.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable measurement of an extracellular ATP concentration, an extracellular and intracellular ATP concentration and blank value switching in order in a short time by operating many pumps and injectors corresponding to a measuring object. CONSTITUTION:For measurement of an extracellular ATP (adenosine triphosphate) concentration, the injector 1 is rotated in order to change the passage to the carrier liquid (C1) after supplying a cell suspension (S) to the injector 1 and the injector 2 is simultaneously changed in order to send a luminous agent (E) sandwiching the luminous agent (E) with carrier liquids (C2) after supplying the luminous agent (E) to the injector 2. For measurement of an intracellular ATP concentration, an ATP-extracted solution (R) is injected into the sample passage 3 from the supply passage 10 before a cell suspension (S) injected between the carrier liquid (C1) by the injector 1 reaches a mixer 6. Blank value is measured by supplying only the carrier liquid (C1) and the carrier liquid (C2).

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To make measurement in a stable moist state by allowing paper to be measured to contact a flat glass film having a measuring electrode, disposing upper and lower blocks each having a through-hole to face each other via an O-ring and measuring the pH of the moistened paper. CONSTITUTION:A fibrous material such as cotton 15 is held on the inside of the glass film 12of the composite glass electrode 6 so that foam is not generated near the film 12. A liquid junction part 13 is provided to the top end of an outside peripheral glass tube enclosing a reference electrode 11 by lapping and fitting the measuring electrode 10 and the periphery at the top end of the glass film 12 which is the partition wall of the electrode 11 to connect the internal liquid 9 of the electrode 11 to an internal liquid tank 19 on the outside. A head pressure is exerted to the liquid junction part 13 to gradually discharge the liquid 9 to the outside. The paper 5 to be measured is placed on the lower block 2 and the upper block 1 is placed thereon. The blocks 1, 2 are fixed via the O-ring 4. The film 12 of the electrode 6 contacts the rear surface of the paper 5 in this state and pure water, etc., are dropped from the through-hole 3 of the block 1 to moisten the paper 5, then the pH thereof is measured. The measurement is thus made in the stable moist state.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the selectivity and response to alcohol of an alcohol sensor and to stably use the sensor over a long period of time by providing a multiple layer film having avidin and biotin labelled alcohol oxidase alternately laminated thereto on the surface of a platinum electrode. SOLUTION: This alcohol sensor is constituted by providing a multiple layer film having avidin 2 and biotin labelled alcohol oxidase 3 alternately laminated thereto on the surface of a platinum electrode 1. That is, biotin 3b is added to alcohol oxidase 3a to form biotin labelled alcohol oxidase 3 and an avidin- biotin bong is utilized to form a protein layer of avidin-biotin containing alcohol oxidase 3a on the surface of the platinum electrode 1. This mechanism is based on that avidin has four bonding regions with biotin 3b and some biotins 3b are added to alcohol oxidase 3a. This sensor has a simple structure utilizing alcohol oxidase and is practical and has high reliability.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the method and the apparatus for measuring the acidity, the L-lactic-acid concentration and the D-lactic-acid concentration of fermented milk at the same time. CONSTITUTION:The acidity of the sample, which is sampled from fermented milk, is measured with an acidity measuring device having a conductivity electrode 24 and the like. The L-lactic-acid concentration of the sample is measured with an L-lactic-acid-concentration measuring device having an L-lactic-acid electrode 34 and the like. The added amount of the L-lactic-acid concentration of the fermented milk, which is measured with the L-lactic-acid concentration measuring device, and the acidity of raw material milk, which is measured beforehand, is subtracted from the acidity of the fermented milk, which is measured with the acidity measuring device, with a computer device 38, which is connected to the acidity measuring device and the L-lactic-acid concentration measuring device. Thus, the D-lactic-acid concentration of the fermented milk is computed and obtained.
