Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent the deterioration of flatness due to the change difference of a dimension accompanied by a humidity change by adding sulfoisophthalic acid to at least one of the intermediate layers of a laminated film as an acid component in a specific amount. CONSTITUTION:A laminated film consists of three or more layers composed of a polyester resin. This laminated film may be constituted of four or five layers if it is constituted of three or more layers. At least one layer among the intermediate layers of the laminated film, that is, the non-surface layers thereof is composed of a polyester resin containing 0.5-40mol% or sulfoisophthalic acid as an acid component. The polyester resin containing a predetermined amount of sulfoisophthalic acid has high hygroscopicity. As mentioned above, the laminated film has such a structure that the intermediate layer high in hygroscopicity is held between layers relatively low in hygroscopicity in a sandwich state. As a result the deformation of the film is suppressed as a whole by the action of this intermediate layer.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent generation of a surface flaw, lateral steplike adhesive dirt and a craterlike spot of a film, by a method wherein a polyester film is preheated and stretched by making use of a ceramic roll whose surface roughness and roughness density are made appropriate. CONSTITUTION:At the time of manufacturing of a polyester film where mean surface roughness on the center line and the maximum surface roughness are respectively 0.2-1.0mum and 2.0-10.0mum, a ceramic roll whose mean roughness on the center line, maximum surface roughness and a number of recessed parts (roughness density) of at least 0.5mum are respectively 0.7-2.0mum, not exceeding 15mum and 17-28 pieces per 1mm in length is used for a preheating roll. The ceramic roll whose mean surface roughness on the center line, the maximum roughness and the roughness on the center line, the maximum roughness and the roughness density are respectively 0.1-0.5mum, not exceeding 5.0mum and 5-12 pieces per 1mm in length is used for a stretching roll. When mean roughness on the center line of the roll is finer than the above-mentioned range, the roll becomes apt to adhere to the film and when the same exceeds the above-mentioned range, it becomes the cause of generation of a scratch. When the maximum roughness exceeds the above-mentioned range the same becomes a craterlike spot locally. When the roughness density is lower than the above-mentioned range, the same becomes apt to adhere to the film and when it exceeds the above-mentioned range, this becomes the cause of the generation of the scratch.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent a surface damage generated due to the slip of a polyester film on a roll, a lateral stepwise adherence contamination generated by the adherence of the roll to the film, a crater spot by preheating, a orienting the film by using a ceramic roll for optimizing a surface, roughness and roughness density. CONSTITUTION:In the case of orienting a film 1 in a longitudinal direction, ceramic rolls each having 0.7-2.0mum of mean surface roughness at a center line and 17-28 per 1mm of the number of recesses (roughness density) each having 15mum or below of maximum depth and 0.5mum or more of size are employed as preheating rolls 2. Ceramic rolls each having 0.5-1.5mum of mean surface roughness at a center line and 12-22 per 1mm of the number of recesses (roughness density) each having 10.0mum or below of maximum depth and 0.5mum or more of size are employed as orienting rolls 3. Thus, a polyester film having 0.02-0.2mum of mean surface roughness and 0.2-2.0mum of maximum roughness can be manufactured.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a ceramic roll used for heating a synthetic resin sheet, preventing self-adhesion between a sheet-like material and the roll from occurring and producing no flaw on the surface of the sheet, by making the surface shape of a ceramic-coated roll to be appropriate. CONSTITUTION:Average roughness on the central line of the surface roughness of a ceramic roll is 0.7-2.0mum. If the average roughness 4 of the central line is lower than the lower limit of the above-described range, self-adhesion between the roll and a synthetic resin sheet tends to occur and on the contrary, if it is higher than the upper limit of the above-described range, the synthetic resin sheet slips on the roll and it causes occurrence of flaw. Moreover, the max. depth of the surface roughness is 15mum or smaller. If the max. depth is larger than the upper limit of the above- described range, as the thermal conductivity is powered, crater-shaped spots are partially transferred on the synthetic resin sheet and the appearance becomes worse. No. of recessed parts (roughness density) of 0.5mum or larger are 17-28/mm length. If the roughness density exceeds the upper limit of the above-described range, the synthetic resin sheet slips and it causes occurrence of flaw. On the contrary, it becomes less than the lower limit of the above-described range, the synthetic resin sheet becomes easily adhered with the roll.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an image forming material superior in durability, heat resistance, and water resistance with a sharp and good-contrast image by specifying the surface roughness of a layer A-side surface of a biaxially oriented composite film formed by laminating polyester layers A, B each containing a specific amount of calcium carbonate of a specific average particle diameter. CONSTITUTION:A biaxially oriented composite film is formed by laminating a polyester layer A containing 25wt.% or less calcium carbonate of 1.5mum or less average particle diameter on at least one surface of a polyester layer B containing 5-30wt.% calcium carbonate of 0.3-3.5mum average particle diameter. In said film, the surface on the side of the layer A is 0.15mum or less in surface roughness Ra, 35% or more in glossiness, and 0.7-1.35g/m in optical density. It is preferable that the average particle diameter of the calcium carbonate incorporated in the polyester forming the layer A is smaller than that of the calcium carbonate incorporated in the polyester forming the layer B. On the layer A-side surface of the composite film, an image forming layer or a recording accepting layer is formed by a normal method to obtain an image forming material.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a film having no occurrence of surface flaws, cross-stepped adhesive stains and crater-shaped spots by pre-heating and heat-extending a polyester film by using ceramic rolls suited to its surface roughness and rough density. CONSTITUTION:A polyester non-oriented film is drawn to 3.0 times in a longitudinal direction by using ceramic rolls, as pre-heating rolls 2 and extending rolls 3, which have 17-28 recessed parts per 1mm, in which the center line average roughness of a surface roughness is 0.7-2.0mum and maximum depth is 15mum or less and 0.5mum or more. And, it is drawn continuously to 3.0 times in a transverse direction and wound by a winder, as the result, a polyester film is produced, in which the center line average roughness of a surface roughness is 0.02mum or less and the maximum roughness is 0.2mum or less. In this manner, a smooth polyester film can be obtained without surface flaws, crater-shaped spots and cross-stepped adhesive stains.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the sharpness and the contrast of an image, and to lessen the bending stripe and the flaw of the title material by specifying the mean particle size and the additional amount of calcium carbonate contd. in a specified polyester copolymer respectively, and the surface roughness, the surface gloss, the reflectance at a visible radiation region and the transmission density of the photographic material, respectively. CONSTITUTION:A photosensitive photographic emulsion layer is mounted on at least one surface of a biaxial oriented film which is composed of the polyester copolymer contg. 5-30wt.% of the calcium carbonate having a mean particle size of 0.05-1.5mum based on the total weight of the polyester copolymer, and has the heat of melting of a crystal of =35%, the reflectance at the visible radiation of >=85% and the transmission density of >=0.5. When the polyester copolymer used has the prescribed heat of fusion of the crystal, the copolymer is not specified, and is preferably composed of the polyester copolymer having an ethylene terephthalate unit as a repeatedly constituting unit. Thus, the sharpness and the contrast of the image are improved, and the generation of the bending stripe of the material is lessened.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an image-receiving base for a printer which is excellent in strength, heat resistance and printability and is free of curling, by providing an anti-sticking layer on at least one side of a biaxially stretched film comprising a specified polyester copolymer and having a cushion factor in a specified range and a yield point. CONSTITUTION:An image-receiving base for a printer comprises an anti-sticking layer on at least one side of a biaxially stretched film which comprises a polyester compolymer containing 5-30wt.% of white inorganic particles and having a crystalline heat of fusion of not more than 6cal/g and which has a cushion factor of 5-30% and a yield point in a stress-strain curve. The polyester copolymer has the predetermined crystalline heat of fusion, and is preferably a copolymeric polyester comprising an ethylene terephthalate unit as a main repeating unit. If the crystalline heat of fusion is more than 6.0cal/g, satisfactory recording by use of a sublimable dye cannot be achieved, images formed are light in color and unclear, and a fold mark is left once the image-receiving base is folded. If the cushion factor is less than 5%, the film is hard, and printability is poor. If the cushion factor is more than 30%, the film is liable to be broken.
