    Abstract: A polyester composition includes a ligand capable of coordinating to a metal or metal ion, wherein the ligand includes at least one donor atom selected from the group consisting of a nitrogen atom, a sulfur atom, and an oxygen atom. Consequently, it is possible to inactivate a metal catalyst which adversely affects heat resistance. As a result, it is possible to obtain polyester compositions and films having excellent heat resistance, colorability, and weathering resistance. Moreover, in the process of producing a polyester, by separating and recovering a catalyst by adding a ligand which is capable of coordinating to a metal or metal ion and which includes at least one donor atom selected from the group consisting of a nitrogen atom, a sulfur atom, and an oxygen atom, it is possible to improve the heat resistance of the polyester composition.

    Abstract: Polyester films of the present invention are especially used for packaging material, and particularly to polyester film that is preferably us ed for a food packing container and the like by coloring polyester film with organic pigment. A first polyester film of the present invention contains organic pigment of 0.01 to 5 weight % having a molecular weight of 695 to 1000 in a polyester resin. A second polyester film of the present invention is composed mainly of ethylene terephthalate units, having a polyester resin layer (A) made of polyester resin containing copolymerized compounds of 1.5 to 8 mole % and, moreover, containing of organic pigment of 0.01 to 5 weight % and ethylene terephthalate cyclic trimer of 0.2 to 0.9 weight % in the layer (A).

    Abstract: A biaxially oriented polyester film wherein the ratio (=IMD /IND) of the peak intensity (IMD) in the longitudinal direction to the peak intensity (IND) in the thickness direction determined at 1615 cm by laser Raman scattering method is not less than 6; and a process for production of a biaxially oriented polyester film which comprises the steps of controlling the ratio (A/B) of the maximum thickness (A) of the edge portion of a cast film to the thickness (B) of the central portion in the transverse direction thereof in the range of 2 to 6, biaxially stretching the cast film, and controlling the peak intensity ratio of the biaxially oriented film determined by the laser Raman scattering method in the above-described range. The biaxially oriented polyester film thus produced has a specific orientation in the longitudinal direction, and therefore has great strength in the longitudinal direction and small irregularity in properties such as thickness or birefringence.

    Abstract: According to the present invention there is provided a polyester composition comprising an aromatic polyester having copolymerized therein a compound containing at least one sulfonic acid group or sulfonic acid metal salt group, and crosslinked polymer particles, preferably crosslinked polymer particles coated with a water-soluble polymer. The particles are incorporated in a slurried state into the polymer. There is also provided a laminate film containing the polymer with the particles thus incorporated therein. The polyester composition is superior in uniform dispersibility of the particles, re-agglomeratin does not occur in melt-storage for a long time, and films formed using the polyester composition are superior in traveling performance and abrasion resistance.
