    Abstract: A cable (211) is provided comprising a steel cord (212) and a polymer material (215). The steel filaments (213) of the steel cord (212) are coated with an adhesive before the penetration of the polymer material (215). The cable (211) has a structural elongation less than 0.025% and an E module 4% greater than the E module of the steel cord (212). These two improvements further decrease the total elongation of the cable at certain load.

    Abstract: The present invention provides a spiral strand formed of a plurality of layers, each layer being formed of a plurality of individual wires. At least one inner layer is adapted to have a greater resistance to radial forces than other layers, such that the inner layer is better able to resist the higher radial forces that are generated within the inner layers of relatively larger spiral strands, for example strands that have seven or more layers provided radially outwardly of the adapted inner layer. The inner layer may be adapted by including shaped wires that provide contact surfaces between layers that have a greater surface area.
