Abstract: The invention relates to methods for producing an antibody which is specific for a mutant p53 polypeptide over wildtype p53 polypeptide, comprising using said mutant p53 polypeptide as an immunogen wherein said polypeptide comprises: (i) an antigen sequence, comprising an amino acid sequence of the mutant p53 polypeptide including the mutation and at least one amino acid immediately adjacent to the mutation, and (ii) a scaffold sequence for providing the antigen sequence in a solvent-accessible configuration, in particular wherein the scaffold sequence is thioredoxin. In the specific embodiments, antibodies against mutant p53 comprising R175H, R248Q or R273H are generated. Also disclosed are the uses of said antibodies for diagnosis, prognosis and stratification of patient groups and further encompasses the use of antibodies for imaging and treatment of cancer.

Abstract: According to various embodiments, a method and system to obtain access to a blood vessel underneath a skin layer that may preserve lifespan of the blood vessel and reduce executional skill variability may be provided. The method includes placing a guiding portion between the blood vessel and the skin layer; and configuring the guiding portion to receive and guide a needle to reach the same location of the blood vessel repeatedly and consistently; and forming a resultant scarred track between the blood vessel and the skin layer as the guiding portion is resorbed over time. The system includes a vascular access device configurable to first possess strength to penetrate through a tissue layer, subsequently possess flexibility to conform to the surrounding tissue beneath the tissue layer; and a guiding portion which may be resorbable, wherein the inlet includes a larger diameter compared to the outlet.

Abstract: Disclosed is an encapsulation barrier stack, capable of encapsulating a moisture and/or oxygen sensitive article and comprising a multilayer film, wherein the multilayer film comprises: one or more barrier layer(s) having low moisture and/or oxygen permeability, and one or more sealing layer(s) arranged to be in contact with a surface of the at least one barrier layer, thereby covering defects present in the barrier layer, wherein the one or more sealing layer(s) comprise(s) a plurality of encapsulated nanoparticles, the nanoparticles being reactive in that they are capable of interacting with moisture and/or oxygen to retard the permeation of moisture and/or oxygen through the defects present in the barrier layer. The encapsulation of the particles can be obtained by polymerising a polymerisable compound (a monomeric or a polymeric compound with polymerisible groups or) cross-linking a cross-linkable compound on the surface of the reactive nanoparticles.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to surface functionalization of polymeric fibers. Surface biofunctionalization is achieved by covalent conjugation of biofunctional igands and/or cell growth factors that are crucial for cell attachment, proliferation and functions. Biofunctional fibers could be fabricated into three-dimensional scaffolds. Polymer fibers described here comprise of biocompatible polymers that are either biodegradable ornon-biodegradable. This patent also describes a series of new biodegradable polyphosphoramidates for the processing of biodegradable fibers. Scaffolds made of non-biodegradable functional fibers could be used for in vitro cell culture (for example, ex vivo cell expansion), while biodegradable functional fibers could be fabricated into tissue engineering scaffolds.
