Compositions, reaction mixtures, kits and methods used in amplifying and detecting nucleic acids from various species of the class Mollicutes. In certain aspects and embodiments, particular regions of the 23S rRNA or gene encoding said rRNA have been identified as preferred targets for nucleic acid amplification reactions of a sample suspected containing at least one species of Mollicutes. Some oligomers comprise tag regions. Some oligomers comprise target closing regions, promoter sequences, and/or binding moieties, such as homopolymeric and heteropolymeric nucleotide sequences. Samples can be from any source suspected of containing a species of the class Mollicutes. Preferred sample sources include bioreactors, cell lines, cell culture wares and pharmaceutical manufacturing wares, to name a few.

The present invention provides a nanoparticle-filled polymer comprising one or more nanoparticles dispersed within the one or more polymeric materials, wherein the one or more nanoparticles have a diameter of between 0.1 nm and 100 nm, wherein the nanoparticle-filled rubbery polymer behaves as a nanocomposite exhibiting higher permeability than the native polymer membrane.

A nanocomposite structure and methods for producing such a nanocomposite structure. The nanocomposite structure includes a core of a larger nanoparticle or a group of nanoparticles that are unagglomerated and free of organic surface layers. The nanocomposite structure further includes distributions of isolated or groups of smaller nanoparticles on the surface of the oxide core which are also free of organic surface layers. By forming such a nanocomposite structure, the surface area as well as the catalytic activity of the nanostructure may be improved.

The present invention provides compositions, kits and methods for the selective hybridization and capture of a specific target nucleic acid. The specific target nucleic acid may be present in a heterogeneous mixture of nucleic acids. Selective hybridization and capture provides a target nucleic acid that is substantially free of non-target and/or contaminating nucleic acids. Target nucleic acids that have been selectively hybridized and captured using the current invention are then used in subsequent analysis, wherein the presence of non-target and/or contaminating nucleic acids that interfere with said subsequent analysis have been substantially reduced or eliminated, thereby providing improved analysis results. The invention offers the further advantage of requiring less stringent purification and/or sterility efforts than conventionally needed in order to ensure that enzymes and other reagents used in subsequent analysis, or present in the environment in which an assay is performed, are free of bacterial or other contaminating nucleic acids.

In order to improve the cooling of the guide apparatus (6), it is provided that the bearing (10) of the guide vane shaft (8) is located in an area of the turbine housing (3) that is flushed by the cooling medium.

The present invention relates to a microwave plasma deposition process and apparatus for producing diamond, preferably as single crystal diamond (SCD). The process and apparatus enables the production of multiple layers of the diamond by the use of an extending device to increase the length and the volume of a recess in a holder containing a SCD substrate as layers of diamond are deposited. The diamond is used for abrasives, cutting tools, gems, electronic substrates, heat sinks, electrochemical electrodes, windows for high power radiation and electron beams, and detectors.

Eine Isoliervorrichtung enthält ein erstes Maschinenelement (6), insbesondere Abgasrohr, und wenigstens ein zweites mit diesem verbundenes Maschinenelement (8), insbesondere Abgaskrümmer, welche von einem insbesondere heißen Medium durchströmbar und mit einem Aggregat (2) verbunden sind. Die Isoliervorrichtung umgibt das Maschinenelement (6) zumindest teilweise und ist auf dem Aggregat (2) festgelegt. Die Isoliervorrichtung soll mit einem geringen Fertigungs- und/oder Materialaufwand dahingehend weitergebildet werden, dass eine einfache Montage oder Demontage ermöglicht werden und eine problemlose Anpassung an unterschiedlich ausgebildete Aggregate erfolgen kann.
