Abstract:
The present invention relates to video conferencing systems. The present invention introduces a novel method of allowing an circuit switched endpoint or gateway to establish simultaneous incoming connections by controlling the order in which remote endpoints send framing on each sub-call. By delaying transmitting framing on certain sub-calls, the endpoint receiving the calls can ensure that only one remote endpoint starts transmitting framing with a new Sub-Call ID at any time, thus forcing endpoints to start transmitting framing in a known sequential order allowing the receiving endpoint to keep track on to which connection a given sub-call belongs.
Abstract:
A calibration logic unit according to the present invention is configured to at least receive control signals from a touch-sensitive display surface and data signals from a video conferencing codec. The control signals from the touch sensitive display surface identifies an occurred event (e.g. an object touching the touch-sensitive display surfaces) and the location (coordinates x 1 , y 1 ) of the occurred event. The data signal from the video conferencing codec comprises at least an identification of the current image layout used by the video conferencing codec, and the region in the layout containing a screen image received from a computer. The codec is connected to a projector projecting the codec's output or display image onto the touch-sensitive display surface. Based on the received control/data signals and preconfigured calibration profiles stored on the calibration logic unit, the calibration logic unit calculates a new set of coordinates (x 2 ,y 2 ) identifying the corresponding position of the occurred event on the computers local screen image. A control signal identifying at least the occurred event and the new set of coordinates is generated by the calibration logic unit and sent to the computer.
Abstract:
A video teleconferencing directional microphone includes three microphone elements arranged coincidentally on a vertical axis. The three microphone elements are placed on a supporting surface so that a first microphone element is on the surface, and the second and third microphone elements are elevated above the supporting surface. The directional microphone also includes three filters, a summing node, and an equalizer, which are used to shape the directivity pattern of the directional microphone into an elevated toroid sensitivity pattern. The elevated toroid sensitivity pattern increases sensitivity in the direction of a sound source of interest, but reduces sensitivity to any sound waves generated by noise sources at other locations.
Abstract:
A method is disclosed for processing images in conference between a plurality of video conferencing terminal. The method comprising first providing properties of at least two video conferencing terminals, then define a number of groups based on the properties of the at least two video conferencing terminals, then subsequently, for each of the video conferencing terminal, determining an ordered list of the a number of groups, determining a pane layout for displaying images from the video conferencing terminals, the pane layout being determined based on the properties of the video conferencing terminal the layout is to be displayed on and the properties of the other video conferencing terminals in the conference, mapping the ordered list of the number of groups to the respective determined pane layout, and finally providing at least one composite image stream to each of the video conferencing terminals according to the selected pane layout and mapping of the a number of groups. The method allow different types of telepresence endpoints, (e.g. different manufacturers, different numbers of screens/cameras, etc.) to work well together in the same video conference.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a system and a method making names of participants in an archived conference or presentation searchable after being stored in the archive server. According to the invention, one or more media streams coded according to H.323 or SIP are transmitted to a streaming/archiving server for converting multimedia content into a standard streaming format. A face recognition unit analyzes the video part of the multimedia content to detect faces and identify the detected faces. The face recognition unit utilizes protocol information and other video conferencing recourses to greatly reduce the search space during face recognition process, hence reducing computational cost and improving robustness of recognitions.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a method for entropy coding of quantized transform coefficients when for some reason no pixels are available for prediction and the VLC codes which is based on statistics for available prediction data, is inexpediently long. According to the invention, it is determined whether a situation of no available prediction pixels occur. If so, a fixed value is inserted in a block of pixels which is used as the prediction block for deriving the residual block, which in turn are transformed and quantized. In the following entropy coding, a special purpose VLC is then used to represent the low frequency coefficients of the quantized transform coefficients.
Abstract:
In order to secure good alignment and position accuracy in all directions (x, y, z) for an electrical component (30) to be soldered to a PCB (31), a jig (10) according to the present invention is used. The jig (10) is designed to position the IC (30) in both x and y direction (sideways, back and forth), in rotation t, and to hold the IC down during the soldering process to make sure that the IC remains parallel to the PCB before, during and after the soldering procedure.
Abstract:
The present invention introduces a novel method and system for scheduling Video Conferences calls and managing conference equipment from a mobile communication device, such as mobile phones and PDA's. This is utilised by controlling a management system, or in this context a Video Conference Management Programme (VCMP), to set up video conference calls between any from a client application on a mobile communication device. Having a VCMP to manage the calls also allows calls between protocols if a network gateway is available for use. In addition, an administrator can monitor the status of the call, and the VCMP can store call logs and statistics.
Abstract:
The invention is related to video compression systems, and in particular to compression/decompression in digital video systems. The present invention discloses an alternative method to calculate B-frames with a low complexity. The motion vectors used to predict the B-frame referring to the respective P-frames on each temporal side of the B-frame are quantified to limit the required interpolation of pixel positions in each of the P-frames. The total quantization error is reduced by slightly adjusting the quantization so that the quantization of the motion vector referring to one of the P-frame is balanced with the quantization of the motion vector referring to the second P-frame.
Abstract:
The present invention is a method and system for clustering two or more video conferencing recording/streaming devices, making the cluster of two or more devices appear as one single device for the user. One of the recording/streaming devices act as a cluster controller and provides a user interface to the users. System settings are propagated to the other recording/streaming devices in the cluster from the cluster controller. A load balancing system controls incoming and outgoing calls, distributing the computational load amongst the recording/streaming devices evenly.
