Abstract: PURPOSE: A printer with a moving picture output function and its control method are provided to automatically extract certain frames from moving picture data transmitted from an external device and to print the extracted frames. CONSTITUTION: The device comprises a print engine(280), an interface(240), an image extractor(260), an image processor(270), and a controller(290). The print engine(280) prints targeted print data. The interface(240), connectable to an external device, receives frames continuously inputted from the external device. The image extractor(260) extracts at least one key frame among the frames inputted via the interface(240). The image processor(270) converts the extracted key frame into image data which is printable at the print engine(280). The controller(290) makes the image extractor(260) extract the key frame if the moving picture is transmitted, and makes the print engine(280) print the image data if the extracted key frame is converted into the image data.
