An IP(Internet Protocol) address setup method and a device are provided to prevent unnecessary delay from occurring owing to an attempt of an address setup method which is not supported in a new network, thereby executing fast and efficient address setup. Information on an IP address setup method of a new network after handover is obtained through an IS(Information Server)(S100). IP address setup is performed by using the IP address setup method while a mobile node accesses the new network(S110). The information on the IP address setup method of the new network includes information indicating that the IP address setup method used in the new network is one of IPv6(IP version 6) stateless address configuration, IPv6 stateful address configuration, IPv4 static configuration, IPv4 dynamic configuration, and IPv6 manual configuration.

A method and an apparatus for setting an Internet protocol address are provided to decrease an address searching delay by setting the IP address based on setting information from an information server. An apparatus for setting an Internet protocol address includes an IP address setting information receiver(110) and an IP(Internet Protocol) address setting unit(120). The IP address setting information receiver acquires IP address setting information of a new network after a handover from an IS(Information Server). The IP address setting unit sets the IP address by using the IP address setting information as a priority, while a mobile terminal is connected to the new network. The IP address setting information contains first and second information. The first information notifies whether the new network uses an IPv6(Internet Protocol version 6) address setting scheme. The second information notifies whether the new network uses a DHCPv6(Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol version 6) address setting scheme.
Abstract:
A method of adjusting quality of service (QoS) with respect to changes in a transmission environment of a mobile terminal receiving data based on a stream control transmission protocol (SCTP) session. When the transmission environment of the mobile terminal receiving data based on the SCTP session changes, the mobile terminal transmits link information indicating a new transmission environment to a destination node, and the destination node adjusts the quality of data or the size of a transmission window based on the link information. Thus, without adding separate network devices, the QoS of the data being transmitted can be adjusted with respect to the changed transmission environment, only by adding functions with software to the transmission terminal and the reception terminal. Also, since the destination node manually adjusts the transmission window according to the link information, packet loss can be minimized compared to the conventional congestion control method.

A method and an apparatus for transmitting data by using communication environment information are provided to adjust the QOS(Quality Of Service) of data transmission in total consideration of the communication environment of a transmitter and a receiver when the transmitter transmits data to the receiver, thereby transmitting stably the data. A method for transmitting data comprises the following steps of: detecting information about a communication environment in a first device(31)(301); receiving information about a communication environment in a second device(32) from the second device(302); and adjusting the QOS of data transmission in an application layer based on at least one of the information about the communication environment in the first device and the information about the communication environment in the second device(304).

A mobile node and data server for providing information on an IP address allocation, and a method for providing information on the IP address allocation are provided to realize seamless communication by providing identification information recognizing networks together with information on the IP address allocation to the mobile node. A method for providing information on an IP address allocation includes the steps of: receiving a frame requesting information on the IP address allocation from a mobile node included in a first network to allocate an IP address in a second network; and transmitting a frame including information on the IP address allocation in corresponding to the received frame. The information on the IP address allocation includes the IP address used in the second network.

A method and an apparatus for providing handover information to a mobile node are provided to previously check whether the mobile node is able to use an IPv6(Internet Protocol version6) prefix at a new POA(Point Of Attachment) before receiving an RA(Router Advertisement) message, thereby preventing unnecessary delay on the handover and efficiently using the bandwidth of the network by the handover. A method for providing handover information comprises the following steps of: allowing an information server to transmit information about the capability of a new POA(Point Of Attachment), which a mobile node will have access to, to the mobile node in(S200); and allowing the mobile node to determine whether an IPv6(Internet Protocol version6) prefix at the new POA by using the information about the capability of the new POA and generate an address used in data communication with the new POA according to a method determined according to whether the IPv6 prefix can be used(S210~S230).
Abstract:
A handover service device and a method thereof are provided to service information on a network to be used in the future to a user, during handover of a mobile node in a wireless network environment, thereby conducting handover according to the user's selection as reducing power consumption of the mobile node. An input unit(250) inputs handover priority information related to plural wireless networks and handover mode information. A signal strength measurer(240) measures signal strength in a wireless network where the current communication is performed among the plural wireless networks. If the measured signal strength is less than a threshold value, a controller(230) carries out handover to a predetermined wireless network according to the handover mode information and the priority information.
