A back light assembly and an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) are provided to reduce the thickness of the back light assembly by mounting a reflecting plate and optical sheets in a space formed by the first reflecting plane and the third projection plane of a light guide plate. A back light assembly(1000) includes a light source(200) for generating light, a light guide plate(300), a mold frame(400), and a reflecting plate(500). The light guide plate includes a light receiving plane, a projection plate extended from one end of the light receiving plane, and a reflecting plane extended from the other end of the light receiving plane. The reflecting plane has the first reflecting plane tilted from the other end of the light receiving plane at a predetermined angle and the second reflecting plane extended from the first reflecting plane in a direction perpendicular to the light receiving plane. The mold frame accommodates the light source and the light guide plate. The reflecting plate is located between the reflecting plane and the mold frame to reflect light leaked to the reflecting plane.

A back light assembly and an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) having the back light assembly are provided to prevent the thickness of the back light assembly from being increased due to optical sheets by making the distance between a reflecting plane and a projection plane of a light guide plate smaller than the height of a light-receiving plane and forming an inclined plane connecting the projection plane and the light-receiving plane. A back light assembly(100) includes a light source(200) generating light, a light guide plate(300), a frame(400) for accommodating the light source and the light guide plate, and a light absorbing layer(50). The light guide plate includes a light-receiving plane for receiving the light generated from the light source, a reflecting plane vertically extended from one end of the light-receiving plane, and a projection plane for projecting the light input to the light-receiving plane. The distance between the distance between the reflecting plane and the projection plane is smaller than the height of the light-receiving plane. The light absorbing layer is arranged between the reflecting plane and the frame and placed corresponding to a part of the reflecting plane to prevent reflection of light.

A backlight assembly and an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) having the same are provided to improve coupling force among components of the LCD by preventing a lamp fixing part from being bent or crooked due to thermal expansion of a mold frame. A lamp(210) generates light. Acception space is formed in an acception container(300). A lamp fixing part has a base substrate which is seated in the acception space and thereby coupled to the acception container and a lamp clip that is protruded to an upper surface of the base substrate and thereby fixes the lamp. The lamp fixing part further includes a buffer part which is formed in connection with the base substrate and adjusts the length of the base substrate correspondingly to variation in the size of the acception space.

PURPOSE: A back light assembly and an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) having the back light assembly are provided to make the lengths of the first and second lamp electrode lines, which apply a lamp driving voltage generated by an inverter to both ends of an external electrode lamp, identical to each other to improve luminance uniformity. CONSTITUTION: A back light assembly includes a plurality of lamps(200) generating light, the first and second power supply members(310,320) connected to both ends of each of the lamps, an inverter for generating a lamp driving voltage, and the first and second lamp electrode lines(240,250) for respectively connecting the inverter to the first and second power supply members. Each of the lamps includes a lamp tube, the first external electrode formed at one end of the lamp tube, and the second external electrode formed at the other end of the lamp tube.

PURPOSE: A backlight assembly and an LCD having the same are provided to dispose lamps from an outermost part to the center with a distance becoming wider for supplying light of uniform intensity to an LC panel, thereby preventing the nonuniform luminance distribution. CONSTITUTION: A backlight assembly includes a receiving container and a plurality of lamps(210). The container has a bottom surface and side walls extended from edges of the bottom surface for forming a receiving space. The lamps are disposed in the space in parallel and generate light in response to power supply. A first lamp, positioned in the outermost position, among the lamps has a first distance from adjacent lamps. A lamp positioned in the center has a second distance from adjacent lamps, wherein the second distance is larger than the first one.

PURPOSE: A back light unit for an LCD device is provided to refract a light emitted from a lamp to an edge area of a light guide plate, in order to suppress a generation of a dark area, thereby improving brightness uniformity of an LCD device. CONSTITUTION: A back light unit(1) comprises as follows. A light guide plate(20) is disposed on a rear side of an LCD panel(3). A lamp(10) is disposed on a side of the light guide plate(20), and emits a light to a light receiving surface(23) of the light guide plate(20). A reflecting plate(9) is located on the back of the light guide plate(20). A diffusion plate(7) is disposed between the light guide plate(20) and the LCD panel(3). Optical sheet layers(5) have accumulated prism sheets(6).

CONSTITUTION: A light guide body(710) has a side(712) where light is incident, and the first surface(714) and the second surface(716) where the light is emitted. The side(712) determines a shape of the light guide body(710). The first surface(714) is faced with the second surface(716), and the faced surfaces(714,716) are connected to the side(712). Most of the light incident on the side(712) are emitted through the first surface(714) and the second surface(716). Condensing dot patterns(720) have an optical reflection function of emitting the incident light to only one of the first surface(714) and the second surface(716), and an optical reflection angle control function of emitting the light in almost vertical direction.

PURPOSE: A light guide method, a device therefor, a backlight assembly having the same and an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) are provided to suppress the generation a bright line generated in an edge portion of an input light portion by rounding a prism near the input light portion of a light guide plate. CONSTITUTION: A light generating unit(110) radiates light. A light guide plate(120) has a light incident surface for receiving the light, a light reflective surface adjacent to the first side of the light incident surface, and a light radiating surface adjacent to the second side of the optical incident surface. A plurality of the first prisms are formed in the optical reflective surface of the light guide plate(120). The first prisms near the light generating unit(110) have a round shape. When the leakage component of the light is received, the light guide plate(120) diffuses and passes the leakage component of the light through the first prisms and radiates the leakage component through the light radiating surface. A light luminance control unit(130) disposed in an upper portion of the light guide plate(120) controls the luminance of the light guided by the light guide plate(120).

CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal display panel displays an image. A lamp emits light. A light guide plate is arranged at the rear of the liquid crystal display panel for radiating the light towards the liquid crystal display panel. An optical sheet layer is interposed between the liquid crystal display panel and the light guide plate. The optical sheet layer includes a plurality of prism sheets having a plurality of prism convexes formed in parallel in a predetermined pitch.
