Abstract: PURPOSE: A scalable multimedia service device and a method thereof are provided to perform intrinsic and efficient user viewing condition information with a smaller overhead than the overhead of a digital item adaptation of an MPEG-21 digital item adaptation frame work. CONSTITUTION: A parsing unit(110) stores each element parsed from an integrated document in a stack(116). An operation unit(120) takes a necessary number of elements according to a type. The operation unit stores an operation result in the stack. The parsing unit configures a DCFunction and a mapping table(112) of an API(Application Program Interface). If an API(114) corresponding to each DCFunction is searched through the mapping table, the operation unit obtains a specific DC value from an external terminal through the API. The operation unit operates a result value of the DCFunction.

Abstract: PURPOSE: An application service method in a home network system, application sharing method, and application service apparatus are provided to share application programs, image files, and videos in IPTV(Internet Protocol TeleVision) environment by providing SAML(Security Assertion Markup Language). CONSTITUTION: A parsing unit(150) parses a document which integrates components written by a markup language for reproducing the application of terminals. A selection unit(160) provides feature information of the terminal in context provided by the terminals. A configuration unit(170) constitutes the application corresponding to the terminal by selecting and extracting the component according to feature information values. The feature information includes information for a service policy, formation related to user contexts, and the information for the performance of the terminal.

Abstract: A method and a system for sharing a multimedia content bookmark between multimedia players using metadata are provided to enable a user to generate a bookmark by setting segment metadata among television-anytime metadata and use contents continuously from a time when the user watches the contents in a previous terminal by transmitting the bookmark if the user watches the contents in a changed terminal. An arbitrary multimedia player reproduces multimedia contents. If receiving a bookmark generation request during the reproduction of the multimedia contents, the multimedia player generates bookmark information by utilizing a segment element including section information of the multimedia contents. If receiving a transmission request, the multimedia player transmits the segment element including the bookmark information, and a CRID(Content Reference Identifier) of the multimedia contents to the outside through wired/wireless communication. A player receiving the segment element and CRID searches CRIDs of built-in multimedia contents to determine whether there is a CRID consistent with the received CRID. If so, the player updates a segment element within metadata of the multimedia contents with the received segment element.
