PURPOSE: A device for scrambling a multimedia stream is provided to selectively scramble a video stream or an audio stream among contents included a multimedia strea. CONSTITUTION: A demultiplexing unit(430) demultiplexes a first multimedia stream to a first and second streams. A scrambler(440) scrambles the first stream. An ECM packet generator(460) generates an ECM packet using ECM data of the first multimedia stream. A null packet generator(490) generates a second null packet. A multiplexing unit(470) generates a second multimedia stream by multiplexing the scrambled first stream, the second stream, the ECM packet, and the second null packet. PURPOSE: An apparatus for single transmission broadcasting service without needing an ETI input signal process is provided to efficiently construct a transmission system through a multiplexer and a transmitter. CONSTITUTION: An MSC(Main Service Channel) generating unit(207) generates an MSC which is necessary for each transmission frame. An FIC(Fast Information Channel) generating unit(209) generates an FIC based on MCI and SI information which is received from an multiplex managing unit. A transmission frame configuring unit(211) configures a transmission frame to the MSC which is generated from the MSC generating unit. A DMB(Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) modulating unit(213) receives the transmission frame from the transmission frame configuring unit.

PURPOSE: A hierarchical modulation setting apparatus and a method thereof are provided to set up the hierarchical modulation of a DMB transmitter through the output ETI of a multiplexer in a configuration of a transmission network for AT-DMB. CONSTITUTION: A signaling message generating unit(311) generates a signaling message including layer modulation setup information. A frame configuration unit(313) configures an ETI frame including the signaling message based on ETI(Ensemble Transport Interface) standards. A transmitting unit(315) transmits the ETI frame to a DMB transmitter through ETI network according to the ETI standard.

PURPOSE: A disaster broadcasting providing method for providing a disaster service signal and a broadcasting relay apparatus implementing the same are provided to offer the disaster related broadcasting of a specific area to the broadcast channels of users in a corresponding area. CONSTITUTION: A disaster message generating unit receives a disaster service signal(S1320). An audio null stream unit selectively inserts null stream into an encoded disaster service signal(S1340). First and second disaster message stream units multiplex audio/video/data signals(S1350). Ensemble multiplexing units multiplex the multiplexed disaster message signals to ETI(Ensemble Transport Interface) signals(S1360).

PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for having variable error correction capability are provided to use stuff field of an MPEG-2 transport stream for error correction, thereby providing Reed-Solomon encoder of the various error correction capability without expansion of hardware. CONSTITUTION: A transmission error correction device(400) comprises a packet receiving unit(401), a field confirmation unit(402) and error correction processor(403). The packet receiving unit receives a packet of a TS(Transport Stream) from a broadcasting system. The field confirmation unit confirms stuff field from received packet. Based on the confirmed stuff field, the error correction processor corrects an error of broadcasting contents.

PURPOSE: A cable modem upstream transmitter and a method for transmitting signal of the same are provided to support DOCSIS 3.0 standard for the cable modem by transmitting data to a hybrid fiber coax network. CONSTITUTION: A plurality of modulating modules(121 to 124) modulates data, which is transmitted to a plurality of upstream channels from a media access control, into the digital signal of each baseband. A plurality of converting modules(131 to 134) converts the digital signal of each baseband into the analog signal of each baseband. An RF module(140) converts the analog signal into the frequency signal a high frequency band. The RF module transmit each RF signal to a hybrid fiber coax network. Power amplifier modules amplifies the power of the analog signal.
