Abstract: PURPOSE:To reduce the transmission time and to save the transmission cost by sending a color picture while realizing data compression at a conventional rate or over. CONSTITUTION:Color picture data read in a RAM 4 by a CCD 11 and a read motor 12 are converted into a transmission form by a picture processing part 5. Resulting picture, expression color number and transmission data quantity are displayed on a display device 9 and when a color number revision command is received by a panel key 8, the picture processing part 5 displays picture data after revision of color number onto the display device again. When a transmission command is received by the panel key 8, the picture data are sent to a telephone set 12 and other equipment 15 or the like via a MODEM 14 and an NCU 15.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To shorten the communicating period of time of picture information in which a color original and a black and white original coexist by discriminating whether the picture information is color or the black and white, and transmitting the picture information according to the discriminated result. CONSTITUTION:Whether the picture information is read in a color mode or in a black and white mode is judged (11), and in the case of the color reading mode as the judged result, a color reading processing 13 is operated. And also, in the case of the white and block reading mode, a black and white reading processing 12 is operated. Then, when the color reading 13 is ended, whether or not a color transmission is executed is judged (14). In the case of No from the judging processing 14, a color/black and white exchange processing 15 is performed. Then, when the exchange processing 15 is ended, a public known black and white mode transmission 16 is operated. And also, after the black and white reading processing 12, the black and white transmission is performed. On the other hand, in the case of Yes by the color transmission judgement processing 14, the transmission 17 by one page portion is performed in the color mode.

A read section reading an original picture is mainly constituted of a CCD line sensor 11 and a read motor 23, a picture recording section is constituted of a thermal head 12 and a recording motor 24 and used for recording a received picture and a copy picture. Furthermore, a MODEM 14 modulates/demodulates picture data and control procedure data, a line is exchanged from a telephone set 34 and a hierarchical coding decoding LSI 9 conducts coding decoding processes. Thus, the resolution is sequentially improved in this way.

Moreover, the sender side equipment checks whether or not the opposite station has the communication mode again through the detection of the state of a preset flag prior to the transmission of the picture data at the timing of the picture transmission and adds the information sent by a prescribed conventional signal and part of the information included in an information field of the NSS signal to a head of the picture information and sends the result.

Moreover, in the case where the use of the roll 5 goes forward and these sensors 6a, 6b detect a residual mark (C), the position of the roll 5 is set to P4 and printing takes place. Abstract: PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for a main control section comprising an exclusive microprocessor and to simplify the hardware by using a digital signal processor as the main control section controlling each section of the equipment. CONSTITUTION:A digital signal processor(DSP) 22 built in a MODEM 1 controls each part of the equipment. That is, the DSP 22 applies interruption processing to control each part of the equipment simultaneously in addition to basic functions of the MODEM such as modulation, demodulation and equalization. The DSP 22 has internally a control section 23, a timer 26, a ROM 25 storing a basic signal processing program and a RAM 24 used as a data buffer or the like. Thus, the digital signal processor 22 can control the operation of each part of the equipment eliminate the need for the main control section comprising an exclusive microprocessor.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To count accurately a burst error over plural lines by inserting an identification code for prescribed plural lines of picture information to be sent and applying error line count by the burst error at the receiver side. CONSTITUTION:In the case of MH coding, white 0 and black 0 runs for each 5-line, for example are inserted. An LC 5 being a normal reception line counter for each 5-line is cleared and an OKLIN being a total normal reception line counter during one-page reception and an NGLIN being an error line counter during one page are cleared. Then white 0 black 0 line length is received next to an EOL, decoding is continued not being each 5th line and till the EOL comes, and whether or not the reception of the decoded line is normal is discriminated depending whether the picture element number is 1728 or not after the arrival of EOL. Thus, even with a long burst error below 5 lines, the error lines are counted accurately.

CONSTITUTION:When a call signal(Ci signal) from a line 33 is detected by an NCU(network control unit) 15, a Ci detection signal is sent to a CPU 2 from the NCU 15, and a receiving operation is executed by the CPU 2. In this receiving operation, after a communication procedure (pre-procedure) is executed at first, picture data, received from the line 33 through the NCU 15 and a modem 14, is stored successively in a RAM 4. After this picture reception is completed, a communication procedure (post-procedure) is executed, and after that, a device is set at a manual reception mode. Then, in this state, the picture data of the RAM 4 is read out and record-processed, and after this processing is finished, the device is set again at an automatic reception mode.
