Abstract: This invention provides a low-cost, economical printing apparatus and printing system. For example, characteristic information of a printhead which is described, printed, adhered, or formed on a printhead or its accessory (e.g., a packaging paper box) in a format identifiable to human or an electronic device is man-machine-interactively inputted to a host (21) or electronically inputted to the host (21) by a barcode reader or the like. The printing apparatus discriminates whether or not a command sent from the host via an interface is a command that includes characteristic information of the printhead, and control is made to write the characteristic information of the print head into a non-volatile memory (1708) (EEPROM) in accordance with the discriminating result. The printhead (IJH) is controlled in accordance with the characteristic information written into the non-volatile memory (1708) to execute a print process.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an output control circuit which can make any output terminal output an arbitrary internal signal and can monitor many internal signals even when the circuit has a small number of output terminals. SOLUTION: A monitor output control section 5 provided in a large-scale integrated circuit has five internal signal monitoring circuits 51, 52, 53, 54, and 55 to which the internal signal groups of their corresponding buses S1-S5 are inputted. The circuits 51-55 have the same circuit configuration. For example, the circuit 51 selects a prescribed bus from among the buses S1-S5 by means of a bus selecting register 518, performs logical operation on signals selected by means of a signal selecting register 519 by using one of logical and arithmetic circuits 512-516 corresponding to the selected bus, and outputs signals obtained as a result of the logical operation to a monitor output line S7 at the time of selectively outputting internal signals to the line S7.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct a landing position deviation due to a velocity change by a simpler method in real time. SOLUTION: At recording by scanning over a recording medium a carriage on which a recording head for discharging ink for recording is mounted, position information in a scanning direction of the carriage is generated by an encoder, and a discharge signal for instructing the recording head to discharge ink is generated on the basis of the position information. For example, when a scanning speed of the recording head changes by a period 6 because of cogging of a driving motor or the like, a discharge timing is delayed at a section 4 where the speed is lower than a reference speed, and a discharge timing is advanced at a section 5 where the speed is higher than the reference speed. Ink discharged from the recording head is thus landed to a desired position of the recording medium P.

A block selecting signal form a printing block selecting part 50, a printing data selection signal corresponding to a printing dot from a printing data supplying part 40, and an electricity charging time selecting signal are input to the AND gates 2-1, 2-2, 2-3, 2-4,...2-n and each output of the AND gates 2-1, 2-2, 2-3, 2-4,...2-n turns on/off a switching tansistor Tr. As a result, heaters 1-1, 1-2, 1-3, 1-4,...1-n are heated and ink droplets are ejected.
