    Abstract: In some previously proposed methods for frame loss concealment, the parameter freezing and extrapolation technique and re-application of the same decoder model even for lost frames does not always guarantee a smooth and faithful signal evolution from the previously decoded signal frames to the lost frame. This can lead to audible signal discontinuities with corresponding quality impact. Disclosed herein is a method for controlling a concealment method for a lost audio frame of a received audio signal. When an original concealment method is used to create a substitution, a transient condition that could lead to suboptimal reconstruction quality frame is detected (101) in a property of a previously received and reconstructed audio signal. When the transient condition is detected, the original concealment method (102) is modified by selectively adjusting a spectrum magnitude of a substitution frame spectrum. When the original concealment method is used to create the substitution frame, a second condition that could lead to suboptimal reconstruction quality is further detected (101) in a statistical property of observed frame losses. When the second condition is detected, the original concealment method is further modified (102) by selectively adjusting the spectrum magnitude of the substitution frame spectrum.

A method for a decoder of concealing a lost audio frame comprises detecting in a property of the previously received and reconstructed audio signal, or in a statistical property of observed frame losses, a condition for which the substitution of a lost frame provides relatively reduced quality.     Abstract: An encoder and a method therein for Pyramid Vector Quantizer, PVQ, shape search, the PVQ taking a target vector x as input and deriving a vector y by iteratively adding unit pulses in an inner dimension search loop. The method comprises, before entering a next inner dimension search loop for unit pulse addition, determining, based on the maximum pulse amplitude, maxamp y , of a current vector y, whether more than a current bit word length is needed to represent enloop y , in a lossless manner in the upcoming inner dimension loop. The variable enloop y is related to an accumulated energy of the vector y. The performing of this method enables the encoder to keep the complexity of the search at a reasonable level. For example, it enables the encoder to apply an increased precision loop only when it may be needed, by analyzing whether the "worst case scenario" in the upcoming inner loop would require an inner loop with a higher precision than the one currently used.

The method comprises analyzing a previously received audio signal to perform a frequency selective transient detection on the basis of frequency bands and modifying the frame loss concealment method by frequency band selectively adjusting a spectrum magnitude of a substitution frame spectrum in response to a transient detected in the frequency band.     Abstract: The present invention is to select an adaptation scheme for the transmission of the encoded media that results in a satisfactory performance of the transmitted encoded media. A difference from the prior art is that each adaptation scheme defines a set of different transmission formats, wherein each transmission format is a combination of at least two of the parameters the source codec bit rate, the packet rate, the number of frames of each packet (referred to as frame aggregation), and the level of redundancy. By using the different transmission formats, the transmission can be adapted to different operating scenarios and the performance is hence improved.

    Abstract: In producing an approximation of an original speech signal from encoded information about the original speech signal, current parameters (EnPar(i)) associated with a current segment of the original speech signal are determined from the encoded information. Reproduction of a noise component of the original speech signal is improved by using at least one of the current parameters and corresponding previous parameters respectively associated with previous segments of the original speech signal (31, 37, 39) to produce a modified parameter (EnPar(i) mod ). The modified parameter is then used (25, 40) to produce an approximation of the current segment of the original speech signal.
