Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a magnetic recording medium having high performance with good efficiency of forming a magnetic film by providing the inner peripheral wall of a magnetic material container with rugged parts having many sharp angled parts formed. CONSTITUTION:A crucible 4 in which a magnetic metal 5 is packed is constituted in a star shape having sharp angled recessed parts 4 formed on its inner peripheral wall. The scum suspended in the molten metal in the crucible 4 eventually fits gradually into the sharp angled recessed parts 4a. Then, the scum does not exist in the central part occupying the wide part of an evaporation area. Such a state that the evaporation of the magnetic metal 5 is shielded by the scum, does not arise and the magnetic metal is eventually evaporated at a uniform evaporation rate. The metallic thin film deposited on a substrate 3 is uniform and the metallic thin film having high quality is obtd. at a good yield. Such a state that the scum sticking to the magnetic metal 5 evaporates and splashes, does not arise. The metallic thin film is obtd. at a good yield in this point as well. The formation efficiency is thus improved.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To raise the reproduced output by inclining the arrangement of magnetic particles accumulated at the same time to the lengthwise direction of a supporting body. CONSTITUTION:A cooling can 1, a supply roll 2a and a takeup roll 2b for a nonmagnetic supporting body 3, a crucible 4, a magnetic metal 5, and a vacuum vessel 6 are provided. The supporting body 3 is nonmagnetic and is made of a polyester, a polyamide, glass, or the like, and an undercoat layer to improve the adhesion strength of a magnetic thin film is provided on the surface of the supporting body 3 at need. The undercoat layer is formed by coating a film containing particles of SiO2 or the like with 0.005 to 0.1mum thickness. Co, a Co-Ni alloy, or the like is used as the magnetic metal 5. Inclined guide rolls 7a and 7b are brought into contact with the supporting body 3, and the supporting body 3 fed out from the supply roll 2a is twisted by the inclined guide roll 7a and passes in contact with the cooling can 1 in the twisted state and is brought into contact with the inclined guide roll 7b and is untwisted and is wound around the take-up roll 2b.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve magnetic characteristics, durability, and corrosion resistance by including a process to form a metal magnetic thin film on a supporting body by a dry plating means and a process to dip the supporting body with the metal magnetic thin film in a liquid. CONSTITUTION:A water tank 8 adjacent to a vacuum chamber 7 has such a constitution that a supporting body 3 can be travelled to meander in the tank 8. In this device, the vacuum chamber 7 is evacuated to 10 to 10 Torr, for example, 2X10 Torr, the magnetic metal 6 in a crucible 5 is vaporized by resistance heating, high frequency heating, or electron beam heating to form a Co-Ni magnetic metal 6 of 400-20000Angstrom , for example, 1500Angstrom thickness on a supporting body 3 such as a PET film by vapor deposition. Thus, a metal thin film type magnetic recording medium is produced.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To produce a high performance magnetic recording medium with a high yield by designing the production device in such a manner that when a specified amt. or more of magnetic particles is deposited on a deposition preventing material, the deposition preventing material is moved and a new preventing material is set. CONSTITUTION:When the deposition amt. on the deposition preventing plate 4 is detected to exceed the limit, the plate 4 is rotated by a specified angle so that a part of the plate with no deposition of magnetic particles faces the crucible 5. Namely, a stepping motor is turned on to rotate the deposition preventing plate 4 by a specified angle. Therefore, thick deposition of magnetic particles on the preventing plate 4 is prevented so that contamination of the vacuum chamber 7 with magnetic particles can be effectively prevented. Such a problem that the deposited material drops on the crucible 5 to cause sudden change in the vaporization conditions of the magnetic metal can be prevented.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To satisfactorily perform coating and to improve workability of coating by designing a coating head to be equipped with a path for a coating material to supply and apply the coating material on a supporting body and with a path for sucking and/or injection of gas. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic material having a specified compounding ratio is supplied to a coating head 1 while sucking is started through a path by using a pump. A supporting body 4 near the coating head 1 is sucked so that the body 4 is abutted on the coating head 1. Thus, the coating process is prepared, and then coating is started to apply as shown in the figure while the supporting body is travelled in the direction of the arrow. By this method, wrinkles produced in a such case that the supporting body is abutted on the coating head are avoided. Thus, a magnetic layer is satisfactorily formed and high performance magnetic recording material is obtd.

CONSTITUTION:An undercoat layer 2, a 1st metallic magnetic film 3 based on Co or Fe and a 2nd metallic magnetic film 4 contg. Ni are successively laminated on a substrate 1 with a back coat layer 6 and an oxide film 4a as an insulating film and a lubricant layer 5 are further laminated to obtain the objective magnetic recording medium. Since the magnetic film 4 having a high coercive force and excellent in corrosion resistance is laminated on the magnetic film 3 having a high saturation magnetic flux density, the magnetic recording medium has enhanced recording and reproducing characteristics and corrosion resistance.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a film forming device which enables continuous operation, for example, continuous vapor deposition and is high in production yield. CONSTITUTION:This film forming device has a first chamber 1, a dry process plating means disposed in this first chamber 1, a supply side roll 8a for supplying a substrate 7, a take-up side roll 8b for taking up this substrate 7 and a second chamber 9 loaded with the supply side roll 8a and take-up side roll 8b. The film forming device is so constituted that the substrate is sent from the supply side roll 8a in the second chamber into the first chamber and the substrate is provided with metallic films by the dry process plating means in the first chambers. The substrate is thereafter taken up successively from the first chamber 1 to the take-up side roll 8b in the second chamber. As a result, high-performance magnetic recording media are efficiently obtd.

The electron-beam generation device 4 is featured so as to be provided with a first electron-beam generation device which shines an electron beam at the magnetic material in the central region of the crucible and with a second electron-beam generation device which shines an electron beam at the magnetic material in the peripheral region of the central region.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To decrease problems arising from friction in head parts which are formed flush with each other so as to have less friction and to improve reading accuracy and to enable high-speed reading by using magnetic garnet films. CONSTITUTION:The parts where the heads 1, 2 for reproduction face a magnetic recording medium, are coated the magnetic garnet films 6, 7 and reflection films 8, 9. The device is provided with optical pickups 3, 4 in place of magnetic cores. The magnetic garnet films 6, 7 form magnetic domain patterns which reflect the magnetic domain patterns of the magnetic recording medium by the leak magnetic fields from the magnetic recording medium which is magnetic recorded longitudinally. The optical pickups reproduce the signals recorded on the magnetic recording medium by making laser beams incident on the inside of the magnetic garnet films 6, 7 and reading the reading the reflected and returned ray to the pickups by a Faraday effect.
