Abstract: Techniques for performing erasure detection and power control for a transmission without error detection coding are described. For erasure detection, a transmitter transmits codewords via a wireless channel. A receiver computes a metric for each received codeword, compares the computed metric against an erasure threshold, and declares the received codeword to be "erased" or "non-erased". The receiver dynamically adjusts the transmit power based on whether the codewords met the erasure threshold or not.

Un receptor calcula una métrica para cada palabra de codigo recibida, compara la métrica calculada con un umbral de borrado, y declara a la palabra de codigo recibida como ''borrada'' o '' no borrada''. El receptor ajusta de forma dinámica la potencia de transmision sobre la base de si las palabras clave cumplen con el umbral de borrado o no.

Abstract: Técnicas para ajustar la potencia de transmision para mitigar tanto la interferencia de intra sector a una estacion de base servidora como la interferencia de inter-sector a estaciones de base linderas. La cantidad de interferencia de inter-sector que la terminal pueda causar se puede estimar aproximadamente en base a la interferencia total observada por cada estacion de base lindera, las ganancias de canal para las estaciones de base servidoras y las linderas, y el nivel de potencia de transmision actual. La potencia de transmision se puede disminuir si se observa una elevada interferencia de estaciones de base linderas e incrementar si se observa lo contrario. La potencia de transmision se puede ajustar en una cantidad mayor y/o con mayor frecuencia si la terminal se encuentra localizada más cerca de la estacion de base lindera que observa una elevada interferencia y/o si el nivel de potencia de transmision actual es más elevado, y viceversa. La interferencia de intra sector se mantiene dentro de un nivel aceptable limitando una SNR recibida para que la terminal se encuentre dentro de un rango de SNRs permitidas.

Abstract: Techniques for adjusting transmit power to mitigate both intra-sector interference to a serving base station and inter-sector interference to neighbor base stations are described. The amount of inter-sector interference that a terminal may cause may be roughly estimated based on the total interference observed by each neighbor base station, channel gains for the serving and neighbor base stations, and the current transmit power level. The transmit power may be decreased if high interference is observed by a neighbor base station and increased otherwise. The transmit power may be adjusted by a larger amount and/or more frequently if the terminal is located closer to the neighbor base station observing high interference and/or if the current transmit power level is higher, and vice versa. The intra-sector interference is maintained within an acceptable level by limiting a received SNR for the terminal to be within a range of allowable SNRs.
