Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for avoiding false convergence due to the presence of a tone, in time-domain echo cancellation. SOLUTION: The system for avoiding false convergence in an echo canceler, having an adaptive step size controlled for converge a set of filter tap values and an adaptive filter for estimating the channel response over the entire operating frequency range comprises a means for determining the content of spectrum of a set of filter tap values, and means for controlling the adaptive step size of the adaptive filter, depending on the content of spectrum of a set of filter tap values. The means for controlling the adaptive step size comprises a means for decreasing the adaptive step size, when the content of spectrum indicates a state possibly causing false convergence, and means for increasing the adaptive step size subsequent to decrease thereof.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an echo cancelation system and an echo cancelation method by which a nonlinear effect by an unknown echo channel can be avoided. SOLUTION: The echo cancelation system is characteristically provided with an automatic gain controller 188 that receives a far-end signal x(n) from a far-end channel, adjusts the far-end signal according to a gain control signal and provides a controlled dynamic range signal and with an echo cancelation means 180 that is connected to the automatic gain controller 188, receives the controlled dynamic range signal from the automatic gain controller 188, receives a coupling signal consisting of the echo reception channel signal and an input return path channel signal from a return path channel, subtracts the echo reception channel signal from the return path channel and gives the automatic gain control signal to the automatic gain controller 188.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for calibrating the frequency of a local oscillator in wireless communications. SOLUTION: According to a disclosed embodiment, a receiver comprising a digital rotator in combination with a frequency error discriminator in a digital automatic frequency control loop is used to obtain accurate digital values used to calibrate a local oscillation frequency. A frequency error in the oscillation frequency of a local frequency generation loop causes a change in the frequency of a baseband input signal. The change in the baseband input signal frequency related to the frequency error in the local frequency generation loop can be detected as a phase rotation by the frequency error discriminator. By using the digital automatic frequency control loop, the frequency error introduced by local frequency generation is determined with accuracy. The frequency error and corresponding control bits are entered into a calibration table. The calibration table may be used to adjust the local oscillation frequency for temperature changes, pilot searching, and quick paging. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for detecting facsimile transmission. SOLUTION: A novel and improved method and an apparatus for providing an interface to a digital wireless telephone system compatible with standard analog wire line telephones and analog wire line facsimile machines are disclosed. During a telephone call, a facsimile detector 11 monitors incoming data for facsmile signals. If facsmile transmission is detected, a data processor 12 switches processing from data processing as if it were a voice to processing it as facsimile transmission. In addition, the remote station is sent a signal notifying it to process the data as facsimile transmission rather than the voice. The facsimile detector 11 is operated by detecting the preamble of a V.21 message present at the beginning of each facsimile call. Energy is measured in both frequencies of the BFSK signals. A decision is made by analyzing the energy and locating a specific pattern which is repeated itself a sufficient number of times. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method for avoiding a false convergence caused by a presence of tones in a time-domain echo cancellation process. SOLUTION: The system avoids the false convergence in an echo canceller, having an adaptation step size controlled to allow a set of filter tap values to converge and having an adaptive filter to estimate a channel response over a whole operation frequency range. The system comprises a means for determining a spectral content of the set of filter tap values and a means for controlling the adaptation step size of the adaptive filter in response to the spectral content of the set of filter tap values. A means for controlling the adaptation step size comprises a means for reducing the adaptation step size if the spectral content indicates a condition which may cause the false convergence and a means for increasing the adaptation step size subsequent to reduce the adaptation step size.
