Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication and testing. In some aspects, a device may receive information identifying a mount orientation of a wireless communication device, wherein the mount orientation indicates an orientation of a coordinate system of the wireless communication device relative to a coordinate system of a positioner. The device may capture measurement information at each position of a set of positions of the wireless communication device, wherein the set of positions comprises positions of the wireless communication device as the wireless communication device is rotated around an axis by the positioner, and wherein the measurement information is captured based at least in part on the mount orientation. The device may provide information identifying the measurement information. Some techniques and apparatuses described herein may use the measurement information to generate a codebook for beam generation. Numerous other aspects are provided.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A first device may monitor for a set of reference signals from a second device using a set of directional beams. The first device may perform measurements on the received reference signals and select a subset of directional beams from the set of directional beams based on the performed measurements. Each directional beam may be associated with a set of beamforming weights. The first device may communicate with the second device using a dynamic set of beamforming weights. The first device may form the dynamic set of beamforming weights using a combination of beamforming weights from each set of beamforming weights associated with the subset of directional beams. The dynamic set of beamforming weights may be different from each set of beamforming weights associated with the subset of directional beams.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for adapting search, measurement, and loop tracking periodicities in new radio communications. A method that may be performed by a user equipment (UE) includes determining, based on one or more parameters, a first periodicity to perform a search to detect one or more component carriers (CCs), cells, beams, or a combination thereof; a second periodicity to perform measurement of one or more cells, beams, or both in one more detected CCs; and a third periodicity to perform loop tracking to monitor a downlink serving quality, an uplink serving beam quality, or both of a cell. The method may further includes performing the search at the determined first periodicity, measurement at the determined second periodicity, and loop tracking at the determined third periodicity.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. For a user equipment with a number of M greater than or equal to two antennas, a signal is transmitted from at least a first antenna and a second antenna at a first time with an initial relative phase state including a first relative phase rotation between the signals transmitted by the first and second antennas. In response to a determination that a response signal was not received at the user equipment, the signal is retransmitted from at least the first antenna and the second antenna with a subsequent relative phase state among the transmitting antennas, including a second different relative phase rotation, at a second time. The second time may be the next subsequent retransmission of the signal or may be a retransmission following one or more retransmissions using the first relative phase rotation.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described for mitigation of blockages in wireless signals between wireless devices. A UE may detect that a blockage is present (e.g., a hand blockage), such as by detecting that a received signal strength from a transmitting device (e.g., a base station or access network entity) has dropped by greater than a threshold value. Based on the blockage detection, the UE may measure an amplitude of one or more reference signals at one or more antenna elements of multiple antenna elements. The UE may also measure one or more reference signals for one or more phase shifter values that are applied to the multiple antenna elements. The UE may determine a set of amplitude weightings, and a set of phase weightings, for the multiple antenna elements based on the measuring, and apply the sets of weightings for communications with the transmitting device.

Abstract: Apparatus, methods, and computer-readable media for facilitating UE beam selection based on service demands are disclosed herein. An example method of wireless communication includes determining to select an UL beam having a higher EIRP capability than an EIRP capability associated with a current beam for transmitting on UL when at least one of a target transmit power based on a TPC exceeds an EIRP capability associated with the current beam or when an amount of data in a buffer of the UE is greater than a data threshold. The example method also includes determining, upon determining to select the UL beam, a set of UL beams with an EIRP capability satisfying an EIRP capability threshold and a respective beamforming direction corresponding to a beamforming direction associated with the current beam, selecting one UL beam of the set of UL beams, and transmitting on UL on the selected UL beam.

Abstract: Disclosed are techniques for wireless communication. In an aspect, a user equipment (UE) may partially disable transmissions on a transmission port based on a temperature condition (e.g., chipset temperature or skin temperature exceeding threshold). In a further aspect, the UE may enable the partially disabled transmissions on the transmission port in response to cessation of the temperature condition. In a further aspect, the UE may transmit a capability indication to a base station that indicates that the UE is capable of supporting a transition from a multi-layer (rank-2) communication mode to a single-layer (rank-1) communication mode.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure relate to wireless communications, and more particularly, to techniques for adaptively updating one or more parameters, such as power hysteresis, for determining whether beam switching should be performed. A user equipment (UE) may assess a first beam quality of a first beam for communications with a network entity and a second beam quality of a second beam. The UE adjusts a value of power hysteresis based on one or more conditions, such as whether the UE is mobile and/or the signal to noise ratio (SNR) of the first beam is less than a threshold. Based on the adjusted value of power hysteresis, the UE may switch from the first beam to the second beam if a difference between the second beam quality and the first beam quality is greater than the adjusted value of power hysteresis.
