    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications at a user equipment (UE) are described. Aspects of the described techniques may include the user equipment measuring signal aspects for a plurality of respective receive beams for receiving communications associated with a synchronization signal block transmitted by a base station on a transmit beam. From the measured signal aspects, the UE may determine that a receive beam from the plurality of receive beams is a preferred beam for receipt of communications from the base station transmitted on the transmit beam. With the determined preferred beam, the UE may initiate a beam-sweeping procedure to re-measure the plurality of UE receive beams, where the UE measures the first UE receive beam before measuring others of the plurality of UE receive beams.

The method includes receiving control signaling indicating for the UE to monitor a set of multiple synchronization signal blocks during a first transmission time interval, determining a priority order of the set of multiple synchronization signal blocks based on a number of beam switch events that occur during the first transmission time interval exceeding a beam switch capability limit of the UE, performing a set of multiple beam measurements of at least a subset of the set of multiple synchronization signal blocks that occur during the first transmission time interval according to the priority order of the set of multiple synchronization signal blocks, and transmitting a beam report to a base station based on the set of multiple beam measurements.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for dynamic monitoring modes for synchronization signal block (SSB) transmissions are described. A user equipment (UE) may monitor one or more first SSB transmission opportunities for SSB transmissions from a base station and determine an SSB failure rate. Based on the failure rate, the UE may select a mode for monitoring one or more second SSB transmission opportunities. For example, if the failure rate is greater than a threshold, the UE may select a first mode for monitoring a first quantity of the one or more second SSB transmission opportunities. Additionally, if the failure rate is less than the threshold, the UE may select a second mode for monitoring a second quantity different than the first quantity of the one or more second SSB transmission opportunities. The UE may monitor the one or more second SSB transmission opportunities according to the selected mode for monitoring.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may use a measurement procedure for beam detection within an existing cell. The UE perform a search procedure for a first synchronization signal block (SSB) to detect a first beam of a base station. The UE may determine a first timing offset for the first SSB based on the search procedure. The UE may estimate a second timing offset for a second SSB from the base station based on the first timing offset. The UE may perform a measurement procedure for the second SSB to detect a second beam of the base station based on the second timing offset. The UE may prune fake beams based on synchronization signals used for the measurement procedure.
