Abstract: A method of producing basic starting material for the manufacture of fastener tabs (31) intended for joining the side portions of the front and rear parts of an absorbent article that includes a front part, a rear part and an intermediate crotch part, so as to give the article a pants-like configuration. According to the invention the method comprises the steps of stretching a first sheet (1) of elastic material in a first direction (T); applying a second and a third sheet of material (9, 10) onto respective opposite sides of the first sheet; fastening the three material sheets together in at least two mutually separated zones (14, 15) that extend parallel with each other in one direction (M) perpendicular to said first direction; dividing the first sheet (1) in each region between two zones (14, 15) along a line that lies between said zones, wherewith the first sheet in each region (16) between two zones (14, 15) contracts to a non-stretched state, and thereafter fastening the sheets together in each regions (16) between two zones (14, 15). The invention also relates to an arrangement for carrying out the method, to starting material for producing fastener tabs, and to such a tab.

Abstract: An absorbent garment is provided with a first and a second waist portions joined by an intermediate region including an absorbent body. A first attachment, provided on the first waist portion, and a second attachment, provided on the second waist portion, cooperate with each other for releasable attachment. The first attachment is provided with at least two elongate attachment strip elements extending between the side edges and the second attachment is provided with an attachment strip element, oriented generally transverse to said first attachment and located at each side edge of the second waist portion. By arranging the first attachment strip elements to be separated by a distance, which is at least as large as a major proportion of the width of any one of the first attachment strip elements, and by giving each of the second attachment strips a length greater than the distance separating the first attachment strip elements, the waistband region of the garment is given good stability whilst still maintaining the advantages of adjustable reclosure.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of producing a plurality of strips starting from a single sheet (1) of elastic film, wherein said single sheet (1) is fed in a longitudinal forward direction (X) up to a severing zone (b), in which the sheet is severed longitudinally into a plurality of strips (2-6), said plurality of strips then being fed further in the forward direction, while simultaneously being stretched in said longitudinal direction to thereby reduce their width (e) and thickness. The invention also relates to an absorbent product which makes use of a plurality of strips which are flat, thin and rectangular in one or more elasticated areas of said product to provide good and uniform breathing ability along said elasticated area(s).
