Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain good recording/playback characteristics by bonding a pair of the half bodies of a magnetic core deposited obliquely with a thin magnetic metal film through a nonmagnetic material to form a magnetic gap and arranging the bonding face part of each half body of magnetic core facing a part of a substrate oppositely to the end face of the thin magnetic metal film facing the bonding face of the other half body of magnetic core. SOLUTION: In order to deposit a thin magnetic metal film 6 obliquely at a specified angle on a nonmagnetic substrate 4, a pair of the half bodies 2, 3 of a magnetic head 1 are bonded through a gap material G and the magnetic core is arranged obliquely to the sliding direction of a magnetic recording medium. The nonmagnetic substrate 4 is exposed to one end part of the thin magnetic metal film 6 on the bonding face for forming a magnetic gap and faced against the nonmagnetic substrate exposed to other bonding face. Since the magnetic head 1 has a large off-track angle, an adjacent track is prevented from being recorded inadvertently resulting in excellent recording characteristics.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To keep the contact state of a magnetic recording medium sliding surface of each magnetic head element with a magnetic recording medium always good and to drastically improve its reproducing output by providing each magnetic head element to make the center position of its magnetic gap almost coincide with the vertex of curvature in the abutting width direction. SOLUTION: This device is equipped with one pair of magnetic head elements 1 and 2 fixed at a prescribed interval on a head substrate 3, and in the individual magnetic head elements 1 and 2, magnetic gaps (g) having different azimuths are formed by joining one pair of magnetic core halves at their butting surfaces via a gap film respectively. Then, the vertex C of curvature in the abutting width direction is different from the center position B of the abutting width in the magnetic recording medium sliding surface of each magnetic head element 1 and 2, and the center position A of the magnetic gap (g) and the vertex C of curvature in the abutting width direction are made to be coincide with each other.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the reproducing output of a head while cross-talk between both head chips is made to decrease as it is by tilting the end faces of inner cores of a pair of head chips having gap azimuths of mutually different angle by a specified angle in the same direction as the azimuth angle. SOLUTION: This magnetic head has mutually different gap azimuth angles and a pair of magnetic head chips 3A, 3B with the gap azimuth angle >=20 deg. are arranged on head bases 1a, 1b so that the direction of the gap depths (in the direction of the plane of figure) become almost in parallel. Recording/ reproducing in a recording medium are simultaneously performed by means of a pair of magnetic head chips 3A, 3B. In this magnetic head, end faces 20, 20 of the respective inner cores 5b, orthogonal to the sliding direction of the magnetic tape, of the magnetic head composing a pair of chips 3A, 3B are inclined in a range of 5 deg.-15 deg. inward to the gap azimuth angle of the chips 3A, 3B.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To suppress the generation of bubbles in glass at the time of fusion bonding and to diminish defects due to bubbles by forming a gap film in a process for producing a magnetic head and carrying out baking before the top layer of the gap film is formed. CONSTITUTION: When a gap film 8 is formed in a process for producing a magnetic head, baking is carried out before the top layer 8b of the gap film 8 is formed and the generation of bubbles in fusion bonding glass is suppressed. The gap film 8 may be any multilayered film consisting of two or more layers and it is, e.g. a two-layered film obtd. by successively forming an SiO2 film and a reaction preventing film on a metallic magnetic film. A film of an oxide such as Cr O Ta2 O5 or ZrO2 , a nitride such as Si3 N4 , a metal such as Al, Si or Pt or an alloy of such metals is used as the reaction preventing film.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To lessen the deterioration in the magnetic permeability of magnetic metallic films and to prevent the degradation in output by specifying change in the magnetic permeability when the magnetic metallic films receive a specific or higher tensile stress, to be a specific value or below. CONSTITUTION: A magnetic metallic film 1 is formed in the min. area on one of ferrite substrates 3 by mask-sputtering using SMX (Fe-Ga-Si-Ru), etc. The change of the magnetic permeability of this film 1 when the film receives the tensile stress of >=50MPa, is confined within 30%. As a result, the degradation in the output occurring in the degradation in the magnetic permeability is prevented. Oxide films of SiO2 , Ta2 O5 , etc., nitride film of Si3 N4 or metallic films, etc., may be previously formed on the substrate in order to improve the adhesive power of the film 1 to the substrate.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a magnetic head with which good reproducing characteristics are obtainable by improving the core efficiency of a magnetic head without such intricate production stages that change magnetic anisotropy at every one layer of magnetic metallic films. CONSTITUTION: This magnetic head is obtd. by butting a pair of the magnetic core half bodies 1, 2 simultaneously laminated with the magnetic metallic films 3, 4 consisting of crystalline or fine crystalline materials against each other, joining and integrating these half bodies and forming a magnetic gap between the butt surfaces. The magnetic head is so formed that the directions F of the axes of easy magnetization of the magnetic metallic films 3, 4 of the respective magnetic core half bodies 1, 2 are symmetrical with each other with the butt surfaces described above as a center and incline to part from each other toward the sliding surface (direction) S of magnetic recording media and that the angles θ1, θ2. of inclination are respectively 20 to 70 deg. with the butt surfaces which are the magnetic gap forming surfaces. Further, θ1, θ2=30 to 50 deg. are more preferable in terms of an improvement in reproducing characteristics.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To form a magnetic gap with higher accuracy in gap length by forming a glass gap film with the viscosity in a specified value range at a temperature in joining the gaps on a joint surface of a pair of magnetic core half bodies to accomplish a joining of the gaps. CONSTITUTION:End faces are butted to each other in metal magnetic films 2 and 3 provided on gap forming surfaces 21a and 31a of magnetic core half bodies 21 and 31 so that regulation grooves 24 and 35 and 25 and 34 for the width of a track are matched in position to accomplish a positioning of recording tracks. Winding grooves 22 and 32 are positioned with glass grooves 23 and 33 and gap films 26 and 36 are fused together by heating the grooves being pressurized to join the magnetic core half bodies 21 and 31 together. Here, a glass is used having viscosity rho in a range of 10 Pa.S in the joining of the core half bodies 21 and 31. To increase joint strength between the core half bodies 21 and 31, fused glass 40 is fed between proximity parts to gap forming surfaces 21a and 31a existing between track regulating grooves 24 and 35 and existing between winding grooves 22 and 33 and the glass grooves 23 and 33 as well to fill.

The angle theta1 formed by the magnetic metallic films 1, 2 and the traveling direction M of the magnetic head is specified to 10 deg.
