Abstract: PURPOSE: To suppress the generation of bubbles in glass at the time of fusion bonding and to diminish defects due to bubbles by forming a gap film in a process for producing a magnetic head and carrying out baking before the top layer of the gap film is formed. CONSTITUTION: When a gap film 8 is formed in a process for producing a magnetic head, baking is carried out before the top layer 8b of the gap film 8 is formed and the generation of bubbles in fusion bonding glass is suppressed. The gap film 8 may be any multilayered film consisting of two or more layers and it is, e.g. a two-layered film obtd. by successively forming an SiO2 film and a reaction preventing film on a metallic magnetic film. A film of an oxide such as Cr O Ta2 O5 or ZrO2 , a nitride such as Si3 N4 , a metal such as Al, Si or Pt or an alloy of such metals is used as the reaction preventing film.

The protective films 7, 8 include, for example, SiO2 films, Ta2 O5 films, carbon films, etc.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To ensure adhesive strength of a metallic magnetic film to a reaction preventing film and to obtain a magnetic head having high recording and reproducing characteristics and fit for high density magnetic recording. CONSTITUTION:Metallic magnetic films 3, 4 are formed on the opposite faces of magnetic core substrates 1, 2 made of a magnetic oxide material while interposing reaction preventing films 15, 16 to obtain a pair of magnetic core halves 5, 6. The metallic magnetic films 3, 4 of the core halves 5, 6 are then butted and a magnetic gap is formed between the butted faces. The parts 3a, 4a of the metallic magnetic films 3, 4 close to the magnetic gap are made of a soft magnetic alloy contg. oxygen and the parts 3b, 4b close to the reaction preventing films are made of the same material as the soft magnetic alloy but do not contain oxygen.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the deterioration in the magnetic permeability of magnetic films at a high frequency and to improve the output characteristics of a magnetic head at the high frequency by specifying the film thickness of films for joining the magnetic head constituted by joining a pair of nonmagnetic substrates via magnetic films and the films for joining. SOLUTION: In the magnetic head 1, the pair of magnetic cores 11 are joined via a gap material; the magnetic core 11 consists of a stacked film 2 of a nonmagnetic film 17 and a metal magnetic film 16; nonmagnetic members 12 brought into contact with the magnetic core 11 and having faces facing a recording medium sliding surface 5 are disposed by sandwiching the magnetic core 11; and the magnetic path is formed of only the metal magnetic film. The part of the magnetic core at the side opposite to the sliding surface with respect to the magnetic recording medium is formed of a nonmagnetic material 14.
