    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent the deterioration of constituent members at the time of sealing with glass and to obtain stable thermistor characteristics even in use at high temp. by specifying the total amt. of SiO2 and B2O3 and the amts. of MgO, BaO and Al2O3. CONSTITUTION:Alkali-free or low-alkali borosilicate glass having a compsn. contg. =20wt.%, in total, of at least one among MgO, BaO and Al2O3 as essential components is used as a glass sealant for a high temp. thermistor device. The glass may contain, by weight, 15-45% SiO2, 10-30% B2O3, 10-25% MgO, 5-10% ZnO, 5-40% BaO, 2-30% Al2O3, 5-9% CaO, 0.9-6% ZrO2, 0-1% Na2O and 0-1% K2O.     Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a fluorophosphate optical glass composed of a specific raw material composition, having equivalent optical properties to crystalline calcium fluoride and suitable as an optical material having low refractive index and low dispersion.     Abstract: PURPOSE:To reduce the thermal stress in a joint sealing part of an optical waveguide body by coating the outer periphery of the optical waveguide body with a joint material to be softened and fused at a temperature lower than that of the optical waveguide body and including a thermal expansion coefficient difference between the joint material itself and a ceramic wired substrate for embedding the optical waveguide body within a specific range. CONSTITUTION:A thousand thin optical fiber strands each of which consists of a core with high light transmissivity and a clad part are bound and respective clad parts of these strands are joined and fixed with each other. The outer periphery of the optical fiber flux 1 is coated with a glass tube 2 having almost the same heat softening property as that of the optical fiber flux 1 to form the optical waveguide substance. The outer periphery of the optical waveguide body is coated with the joint material 3. The joint material 3 is formed by a glass component softened and fused at a temperature lower than that of the optical waveguide body and having / deg.C difference of thermal expansion coefficients between the material 3 itself and the ceramic wired substrate for embedding the optical waveguide body. The thermal expansion coefficient of the ceramic wired substrate can be matched with that of the optical waveguide body by the joint material 3, so that a joint sealing part of the optical waveguide body can be prevented from crack generation.
