    Abstract: A fluorophosphate optical glass with a low refractive index and low dispersion is provided in stable manner, which has a refractive index nd of 1.42 to 1.47 and an Abbe number nu d of 90 to 97 and comprises 3 to 8 mole % of P2O5, 0.1 to 2 mole % of Al2O3, 1 to 7 mole % of BaO, 35.5 to 41 mole % of AlF3, 8 to 13 mole % of MgF2, 16 to 26 mole % of CaF2, 15 to 21 mole % of SrF2, 3.5 to 10 mole % of BaF2 and 1 to 6 mole % of NaF. The invention also includes a process of making fluorophosphate optical glass and optical parts formed from the novel glass, and camera lenses and the like comprising such optical parts.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide multicomponent glasses for an ultraviolet light resistant core and clad, in which there is a difference not lower than a certain extent between refractive indices of the core and the clad, and the coefficients of the thermal expansion of the core and the clad are set to be nearly same; and to provide an inexpensive ultraviolet light resistant optical fiber obtained by using the same, which substitutes for a conventional quartz fiber. SOLUTION: The multicomponent glass for the clad of the ultraviolet light resistant optical fiber comprises, by mol, 50-55% SiO 2 , 10-17% B 2 O 3 , 19-25% KF, 7-10% AlF 3 and 1-5% Al 2 O 3 . The multicomponent glass for the core of the ultraviolet light resistant optical fiber comprises, by mol, 44-60% SiO 2 , 8-16% B 2 O 3 , 25-35% KF, 0.1-12% ZrO 2 , 0-10% La 2 O 3 , and 0-5% K 2 O.     Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide the stable title glass capable of transmitting light from visible area to wide infrared ray area and having excellent infrared ray transmission by constituting a glass of ZrF4, BaCl2, LiF and NaF having a specific molar ratio. CONSTITUTION:The aimed infrared ray transmitting glass has a composition consisting of 35-65mol% ZrF4, 5-30mol% BaCl2, 5-30mol% LiF, 5-30mol% NaF and 10-60mol% total amount of LiF and NaF. Ionization tendency can be lessen by furthermore adding at least one kind selected from AlF3, GaF3, YF3, LaF3 and GdF3 to the above-mentioned composition at an amount of 1-15%. Stability can be further improved by moreover adding at least one kind selected from CaF2, SrF2 and BaF2 thereto at an amount of 3-30%. The resultant infrared ray-transmitting glass is useful as a lens, etc., used in infrared ray area.
