Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the high-speed cold rolling of both ferrite and austenite stainless steel with the same rolling oil and obtain steel plate of high gloss by specifying the kinds of ionic emulsifiers and the pH of the liquid emulsion. SOLUTION: When stainless steel is cold-rolled by using an emulsion oil containing ionic emulsifier(s) as a rolling oil, the pH of the emulsion oil is made weakly acidic, 4.0-6.5 pH in the case that a cationic emulsifier is used, while the pH is adjusted to 7.5-9.5, weakly alkaline, in the case that an anionic emulsifier is employed. Further, in the emulsion tank, the emulsion is separated into high-concentration and large particle size emulsion and low-concentration fine particle size emulsion to collect individual emulsions. These fractions are properly selected, mixed and used as a rolling oil.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate high-speed rolling and to obtain high gloss over the entire length of a steel strip in the rolling using emulsion rolling oil in a rolling mill provided with small diameter work rolls whose diameters are 50-120mm. SOLUTION: An ferritic stainless steel strip is cold-rolled with the rolling mill provided with the small diameter work rolls whose diameters are 50-120mm and using emulsion oil as rolling oil. In such a case, the cold rolling is executed by controlling so that the surface temp. of the steel strip just after cold rolling become a temp. in the range between a temp. Tmax ( deg.C) which is obtained by the formula (1) and a temp. Tmin ( deg.C) which is obtained by the formula (2). Formula (1): Tmax=190-2.5(7-η). Formula (2): Tmin=-1.07×10 V +0.226 V+6×10 (1400-V)(η-7)+42. Where, V is the rolling speed (m/min), η is the viscosity (cSt) of the undiluted solution the emulsion oil at 40 deg.C.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a metallic sheet excellent in glossiness and without sheet twist and minute flaws by using rolls the direction of grinding mark of which is taken as the axial direction for rolling at one before stand. SOLUTION: In a cold rolling mill, the final stand in a tandem rolling method and rolling of the final pass in a reverse rolling method are taken as a roll cross system. The rolls 1 the direction of grinding mark of which is taken as the axial direction are used at least for the one before stand or preceding rolling of the pass. It is better to make the surface roughness of roll in the stand of the pre-stage or the earlier pass at the first half rougher. And, it is better to use the emulsion of the rolling oil whose viscosity at 50 deg.C is 7-30CSt. In this way, a stainless steel sheet attaching importance to glossness is manufactured at high efficiency.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a metallic strip on which oxidized oil stain is not generated by pressing rolls which are heated to a temp. not lower than a specified temp. against the metallic strip between the completion of cold rolling and coiling and removing water in rolling oil sticking to the surface of the metallic strip. CONSTITUTION: After executing cold rolling with a rolling mill consisting of work rolls 3 and back-up rolls 4, heating rolls 1 which are heated to >=120 deg.C are pressed one by one against the upper and lower sides of the metallic strip 2 between the rolling mill and a take-up reel so as to hold the metallic strip 2 from the upside and underside. As to this heating roll 1, by providing a rotary connector 7 in the shaft end part of the roll 1, the roll 1 is revolved without twisting the cords 8 of pipe heaters. In this way, water in rolling oil is removed due to evaporation of water by heating besides the effect of dewatering with the rolls, so the metallic strip on which oxidized oil stain is not generated is manufactured.

By this method, plating, excellent in adhesion and free from uncoating, can be applied to a base material composed of Si-containing steel plate.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To produce the galvanized steel sheet and galvannealed steel sheet both having a good plating adhesion property without non-plating site with high efficiency by using a silicon-contg. steel sheet as a base material. CONSTITUTION:The steel sheet having an Si content of >=0.2wt.% is subjected to cold rolling by using work rolls which are distributed with grinding grains 2 of the rolls 1 in the axial direction of the rolls in average and which have the surface roughness (Ratheta) in the circumferential direction thereof of 0.1 to 0.6mum and the diameter of >=200mm, thereafter, the surfaces of the steel sheet are heated in an oxidizing atmosphere (an atmosphere contg., for example, O2, H2O, CO2, CO, etc.), and in succession, the steel sheet is heated in a reducing atmosphere (for example, gaseous nitrogen in which H2 is included at 2 to 10vol.%). The steel sheet is then subjected to galvanizing or further to galvannealing.
